Fun place! We recently moved to the area and were checking out where we might be able to find breakfast that the locals go to. Tracy, our server, was fast, efficient, and very friendly. She even suggested an event that we might l like to check out, knowing that we were new to the area. We had a great time, and the food was excellent. We went back again. Evelyn was our server this time. Very nice, polite, efficient, all around great server! Food was just a good this time! I can't say it was quiet, but everybody was having a good time. Not loud, just people having a good time. We all sang happy birthday to a regular.

Very good country cooking. While they have a great menu, comfort cooking is what I was looking for and exactly what I found. Mmm chicken fried steak like mamas! Great service too.

We drove into Elgin today for work and decided to eat a late lunch at Lucy’s. My elderly mother was with us, and we parked right in the front, helped my mom up the 4 steps and helped her to her walker. We went into Lucy’s, my mom had to sit right away so I helped her to the first table.

This is exactly how we were created by the only two employees we could see.

The girl spoke, “We close in 5 minutes.” I said, What does that mean? Can we eat, or not?”

She stumbled over her words and gave us no direct answer. We looked towards the kitchen and the cook looked as if he’d just had been shot… dropped his head and flung his arms down to his sides. Oh, that poor thing, so sorry you have a job, and your front door was open, so gosh, we apologize that we were going to support your business. (Said in my mind as total sarcasm…)

After seeing the cooks reaction, we didn’t want to take the chance of having him make us food while being upset with our presence. NO THANKS!!

Once my mom could get up and going, we walked out, just behind another family who got up from the table after getting just their drinks. They overheard the way we were greeted, so they decided to leave as well.

This afternoon, Lucy’s lost 7 meal, drink and dessert sales simply because the waitress/hostess and cook made it more than clear that they didn’t need or want our business.

What a pitiful way to treat anyone who’s just trying to help you keep your doors open.
