My family of 5 and I were in town near Athens, TX for a family reunion. I found this restaurant today for us to try for breakfast based on the great reviews. We were ignored at the door while waiting for someone to assist us with a table. Once seated, staff started serving other guests after us with menus and coffee. When we asked for menus we were given a dirty look. After receiving such a negative experience, we decided it was time to leave and find another place more welcoming...

Great food, you won’t find a better Chicken Fried Steak around! This is a home style cooked restaurant and leaves you absolutely pleased with not only the delicious food but the most amazing customer service! You cannot find better service around, the place goes above and beyond for their customers and I will definitely will back! Thank you The Roost for having me!

My wife and I visited for the first time today about 10:30am. I had searched Google for Best Breakfast near me. I had every intention of getting an omelet but when my wife ordered chicken fried steak my brain thought “meat”.
The salad was great! Simple fresh salad with lettuce, cheese, tomato, and cucumbers. The ranch was on point. My wife got the mac & cheese as her side and it was just like her mom makes, perfect. The chicken fried steak was good, not sure how...
