I got the Huarache. The concept was to have carnitas (but with mushrooms substituted for pork) along with vegetables, salad and refried beans on a crunchy but still soft corn flatbread. Sort of like an open face taco or chalupa. The mushrooms were awesome, the salad crisp and tasty and the flatbread base was chewy and crispy The only thing that seemed a bit out of kilter to me was the sauce that was drizzled around the Huarache. It came off as almost Italian in flavor.
Food is awesome, but customer service has been hardened. I've been there more than a few times and I've noticed that if you are alone, it takes 30-45min to be seated and more than 1 are seated in 5-10mins... Also, I think the service staff has been hardened due to the number of less fortunate people that frequent the establishment.
Everything was good until it wasn't. Bite into a good but greasy burger only to pull out a long strand of hair. I didn't cause a scene but was discreet about it. Yet, I was the bad guy for their lack of food safety. I've worked in food service and handled food in factory settings and we were always required to wear gloves and hair nets. The dessert was good.
