I realized I don't like German food

We only ate at the “restaurant”. The food was terrible for my entire family. The chicken strips were dry, the chicken sandwich was dry, and the liver and onions were bland for the first two bites and then on the 3rd I cut and it oozed blood. I sent it back in an attempt to get a freshly cooked plate done the right way and it was brought right back out about two minutes later and a reservice was attempted. I told the server that I wasn’t interested in reheated food when it came to bloody liver and I wasn’t interested informed that’s how the owner did things and she couldn’t bring me a whole new dish and wasn’t sure if it would be removed from the bill . I very nicely told her that if the owner would like to speak directly to me about it that would be fine but I will not eat bloody liver or accept what was probably a microwaved dish. The server can back to the table and told me it was removed and I thanked her and paid. None of my family was even remotely happy with the food or the service here and we will definitely not be returning. This place is dated and drab at best and I recommend staying away if you want good food and friendly service that exceeds the minimum.

We only ate at the restaurant. Although the sausage plate that we got was very good, it was also a little pricey. Luckily, we were only needing a snack, so we shared the three sausage plate that came with a side and a loaf of bread (about $22).
Food and drinks: They offer a nice selection of German foods as well as some American foods like hamburgers.
Noteworthy details: They have a parking lot with plenty of parking. Although it is on the main street, it is a few blocks down from the downtown congestion of activities.

Went to the restaurant for a birthday lunch. It was excellent. Didn't stay there.
Food and drinks: Lunch. Great 😊
Food is always wonderful!! Prices have gone up since last year. I remember there were always options for each dish and sauce toppings. We were surprised that we were up-charged for a sauce with mushrooms . Don't order the mimosas it is not orange juice. The old fashion we ordered was very watery. Maybe it was the guy that was bartending. it just didn't taste good.

UPDATED 10-2024: They are open again!!!! Great German food. So many different kinds of Schnitzels!
Still closed for renovations as of 08-12-2022. Bummer
Been here many times for many years. Love Jesse & the beautiful German waitress. Jesse had to pawn us off to someone that had supposedly worked there for 10 years? I had dragged my elderly parents in here too. I don’t know if I would be back. Not worth the trip from Luckenbach for the “service” we supposedly got. When the tourists matter more than the locals, that’s when you know to go elsewhere. Sad. 🥲

Restaurantji Recommends
I had to go to the bar to get my own beer because the waitress forgot. They also charged $8 dollars for the jagger sauce. Because I asked for chicken instead of pork.. when the chicken plate was more expensive than the pork.... Do not recommend.

This has been our go-to German food restaurant in Fredericksburg for many years and continues to satisfy today. Good selection of schnitzel and other specialties like Sauerbraten and Schweinerippchen. The complementary pumpernickel bread and vegetable soup starters are also a nice touch. Plenty of German beers to choose from whether you prefer light or dark. Prices are a bit high but food is consistently high quality.

Friedhelm's Bavarian In is a restaurant with authentic German food, its dishes are exquisitely prepared and cooked with its true German flavor, its decoration is unique and very peculiar, beautiful restaurant wherever you sit, the attention you receive is efficient and professional , its atmosphere is uniquely enthusiastic and bohemian, its hygiene is also good, they have a wide variety of wines, beers and authentic German dishes, this, in this small city is my favorite place, I recommend it to the ? ?, we will return!

Food is fine, but the fact they don't have a pretzel is heartbreaking and I'll never recover.
