This location and the other one, between the music being on repeat, loud whistling from the cooks/kitchen where food comes, the bartender turning his speaker on blast over the music, the atmosphere isn’t it. There’s even loud music from kitchen at the other location on top of the repetitive music. It’s too much. 3 stars service because at the other location the managers seems on crack and keeps trying to take our food before we finish it.

I ordered $130 worth of seafood and fried fish and they didn't include a single cup of tartar sauce. Insane.

The food was mediocre and service wasn't great. The wait staff looked they didnt want to be there. You can get better fish probably anywhere else.

Had a to-go curbside order here. When I got to the restaurant, I called three times. No one picked up the phone. I had to park in a ten minute spot and unload my little ones and reload them after I got the order. There were plenty of staff present, but no one answered the phone? Odd, but okay.

When we got back, food was horribly soggy. No crisp, just a soggy mess. We don’t live that far away, but I guess put it in the air fryer and hope it brightens up. No seasoning on the fish. Just bland. Fries were the only thing seasoned, but were a soggy mess again. Not sure if it was due to the condensation in the container, or if it was cooked poorly.

Either way, will certainly not be coming here again. Plenty of other spots that are significantly better.

First let me say that my husband enjoyed his fish immensely. He had the Tricky Fish. I had the haddock and my son had the Mahi Mahi. We greatly enjoyed the calamari and the delicious okra which was crispy and well seasoned. I highly recommend the okra...you won't be disappointed. Now on to the problem...the haddock and the mahi mahi was the most flavorless. I mean the sautéed squash had more flavor. I was very surprised after tasting the calamari and the veggies. Even the mashed potatoes were amazing. I was so disappointed in the taste of the protein. This place has so much potential. The service was excellent and the manager was very nice and removed the fish from our bill. So no complaints there. This place would be absolutely jam packed if they got the flavor profile of the fish together.

Good food. Good service. Really enjoyed the Fish and Chips (sans chips since I substituted for the okra) love their take on fried okra (well seasoned and crunchy!). The gumbo, calamari and hush puppies were also very tasty.
Henry, our server was very friendly and on top of things!

Vegetarian options: Coleslaw & okra

Waited over an hour for our food. Fries came out stale and the fried fish was raw. Would not recommend.

……
……update.

With warmer weather, Walter and I love sitting on patios for lunch:

Unfortunately in the past week, we have stopped by Trucky fish, sat down… waited for about 5 minutes without anyone coming to greet or get an order, so we left.

Sidecar social and Mi Cocina seem more hospitable.

It’s a shame. Tricky Fish is my favorite spot at the Star, but I can’t seem to get any sense of hospitality from the staff. (2/25/25)

Website says dogs are welcome, but they mean only on the patio. Really my only complaint. I’m a huge fan of the “Low Country Cobb” so I’ll be back when it warms up. My face is getting numb out here on the patio. Still giving it 4 stars. You should try this place.

Located in The Star District in Frisco. Fried green tomatoes were good and the catfish platter was solid too. Portion sizes were fair compared to the price and I left feeling pretty full. Fish and tomatoes were fried well; not soggy but also not too much batter. Service was quick and attentive.

They left out an entrepreneur in a to go order. Cost me gas and tolls to go back and wait 10 minutes for them to make. Mgr did give a 10 gift card for the issue, but I never plan to go back.

Sitting at Tricky Fish receiving pretty horrible service from Allen the bartender. He was rude, sarcastic and I had to get a manager. Of course Once I got the manager and he saw me talking to her, he never came back to check on me. I had a party of 6 about to come up and meet me, I just turned them around. Safe to say we won't be eating here and I will be discouraging all my people not to come here as well

Nice chill spot to stop at after a quick flight in town.

We ordered the chicken wings, oysters and I had a salad with blackened chicken. Everything was yummy. My friend said the wings were really good. Ooo we also had fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. The Hurricane drink was good as well.
