Let me tell you about my evening at the Shrimp Shack in Galveston—it was the kind of experience that makes you want to write poetry about fried seafood. The shrimp? Perfectly golden, crispy, and so fresh I swear they waved at me from the fryer. Each bite was like a little crunchy hug from the Gulf.
And as if that wasn’t enough, the sunset decided to show off. Sitting there, stuffing my face with fried shrimp while the sky turned shades of pink and orange, I felt like...read full review
The shrimp was so FRESH! We ordered the bbq and the Buffalo shrimp. It was perfectly prepared and beautifully cooked. We CANNOT wait to go back and have been recommending it to all our friends!!

Darlene's Shrimp Shack is a casual outdoor eatery serving a variety of seafood and comfort food options. Their menu features dishes such as coconut shrimp, garlic parmesan shrimp, and garlic onion pepper, all of which are said to be delicious. The fried shrimp is a standout, with one reviewer claiming it's possibly the best they've ever had. The atmosphere is casual and outdoor, with limited seating. The staff is friendly and accommodating, going above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction. Customers often mention the freshness and delicious taste of the shrimp, especially the fried jumbo golf shrimp and coconut shrimp, which are considered some of the best around. The hush puppies are praised as being exceptional, and the shrimp coleslaw recipe is described as outstanding. Reviewers also highlight the great quality shrimp and the cute place itself. The Regular shrimp is often noted as the best flavor and the best cooked, with other flavors like coconut, Cajun, and garlic parm also enjoyed, though some find the Cajun too salty and the garlic parm toppings a bit excessive, which can make the shrimp soggy. The seasoned fries are tasty, and the crab sticks are good but salty. The atmosphere offers a scenic view of a bay, making it a serene spot for families. Some mention the music choice as a little odd, and there are birds around while eating. While most visits are enjoyable, some reviews note occasional overcooked shrimp and fries, and a kid taking orders was seen as just grabbing the food quickly. Overall, Darlene's Shrimp Shack remains a favorite for shrimp lovers looking for good food in a relaxed outdoor setting.
