Seriously our new favorite place on the island. From the ambience to the food to the drinks and service!!! Every single thing was immaculate. The shrimp cocktail was the best we have ever had. We had the best and most friendly servers and the decor is so Beautiful and decadent. We will be back very soon!! The drinks were also out of this world!!

Extremely slow. We also ate here for breakfast the next morning because we were staying at the hotel. It took over 45 minutes for breakfast to come out, half of our order was incorrect. They ended up comping our breakfast and a lot of the other patrons but I definitely cannot recommend. To be fair, dinner was better than breakfast but still quite slow.

Wonderful hotel but terrible meal and horrible service. Three of us ordered snapper, two grilled and one fried, and it was so tough and rubbery that we could not eat it. All the fresh seafood here in Galveston, and the fish was obviously frozen, and had been for a very long time. Each piece of rubber was $40. The server took our order, then never came back until she brought the check (someone else brought the food out), and I never got the cole slaw or veggies that came with the meal. We desperately needed water and there was no one to even ask. The gumbo looked and tasted like it came out of a can. They need to bring this restaurant (which was empty on a Friday night) up to the wonderful standard of the hotel that it's in.

I was in love with this buffet. I would say this brunch buffet is comparable to Vegas buffets. There was snow crab, smoked salmon, oysters, shrimp, steak carving station, honey comb, pasta station, omelet station, and a gorgeous dessert table. The staff was very accommodating and attentive. I’m currently scheduling another trip to Galveston, so I can visit this buffet again!Parking: There is a paid parking garage next to Grand Galvez Hotel.

This was not our first experience at The Grand Galvez Sunday Brunch but certainly one of our most disappointing. The way things start out always sets the tone. We had made reservations weeks in advance and when we arrived for our 11 o'clock seating they sat us in the “restaurant” area even though the “dining” area with the gulf view was practically empty. After requesting to move we did however the explain away as to why we were seated in the restaurant seemed to help set the negative mood for us. The food was amazing as always !

As a native Houstonian, I've always wanted to go to this buffet. Heard so much about how beautiful the buffet was. I was disappointed. We didn't get to sit in the regular seating due to a convention. Food was good. Waiter was awesome. $79.00 per person was pricey. Having now eaten at the buffet I won't be back. Not impressed over all.

The overall experience was good. However we went through Priceline and over paid for the room which did not have the ocean view we requested but a view of the back of the hotels front facade. DO NOT USE PRICELINE. Go direct to the hotel when reserving a room.

The best part was the warm cornbread muffins they bring out at the beginning. It was downhill from there. We had the catch of the day and it was the worst red snapper I've eaten. The did not clear our salad plates even though we were done with them when the entre arrived. The waitress was nice, otherwise the service was not good. Overall it was a very disappointing experience. We love the hotel, but won't be dining at the Monarch again.

This was our second visit here and it was better than the first. The service by Heaven was outstanding and all our food tasted great and was prepared as we requested. We look forward to our next visit!

Service was terrible, we could not get coffee or drinks filled. The servers would not pick up used dishes . It was a slow day , not many people ? Last time it was incredible. Very disappointed

Had Saturday lunch here however the menu was bleak, service was bad and food was undercooked- I have to say the ambiance was beautiful but I didn't go just to sit in a pretty place. Yes the manager made up for it but would I go again, no

Our server was great. The food was terrible. We think it was the crab cakes that made us sick. The made course; red snapper was over cooked and just not good. The key lime was factory made and not good. Our suggestion is find somewhere else; even if it is a burger.

Food and drinks were overpriced, bland and disappointing. Do not be fooled by the potential due to being part of the Grand Galvez hotel. Stay away, huge disappointment.

The food was delicious and well-prepared. The service was impeccable. The ambiance was relaxing. One member of our group has severe food allergies and her special requests were honored to the letter. We all highly recommend Monarch.
