I had an extremely disappointing and uncomfortable experience at PJ’s Café due to the behavior of one of your employees, Shakendra. While I was trying to order a sandwich, she began listing the available toppings. I responded with, “Mmm, all of that sounds good,” simply expressing interest—only for her to turn her back to me and sharply state, “I wasn’t done,” accompanied by visible eye-rolling and extremely rude body language.
Taken aback by her reaction, I calmly told her that her response was unprofessional and unnecessary. Rather than apologizing, she chose to argue with me, insisting that I had been rude for “interrupting” her. I was honestly shocked by the confrontation, especially given that I was merely engaging in normal conversation while placing an order.
Due to the uncomfortable nature of the interaction, we chose not to purchase anything. However, her behavior didn’t stop there. She continued displaying unprofessional conduct toward other customers—including a doctor seated nearby—making loud, frustrated remarks that were completely inappropriate for a public setting. Even worse, after being confronted again about her behavior, she followed us toward the escalator in a way that felt intimidating and entirely uncalled for.
I strongly urge management to review camera footage of this incident and take it seriously. If customer service and compassion are values your business promotes, then this employee’s actions are entirely out of alignment with those standards. For full transparency, I do have a recording of the interaction and am more than willing to provide it if needed.
