Shrimp tacos and shrimp Po-boys were very good. Gumbo was a little too salty for our liking, but otherwise was very hearty. Happy to support a small business.

Haven't been disappointed with this place since it opened food is always great, service staff is very helpful, clean bathrooms, dining area, and the views. Hot day on the beach, frozen sangria or rose to go. Shrimp tacos, cold lobster roll, burgers, handmade chips. On the beach, at home to go, or in restaurant. This is my place in Galveston. Pet friendly so get them a burger too.

Worst seafood I've ever had. Didn't want a replacement to afraid to taste anything else. I don't see where the multiple 5 stars come from. It must be more of a bar than a restaurant where every thing is good when your buzzing.

The food and service are great! My only problem is there is no phone number to call! I accidentally left my purse there and had no way of contacting them to see if they could keep it safe until I got back to the restaurant. What business doesn’t have a contact listed?!

Great service. Friendly staff. Reasonable prices! Fun to sit outside under the hut. Great ocean views! Sorry no food pics. I forgot!

What can I say about this place...it's ok. Not great, but not bad either, just ok. The staff was very friendly and my food came out fast. Maybe too fast because my grilled catfish (which looked great) was cold. And not cold like it had been left out on the counter for too long, but cold like it hadn't been thawed out enough before cooking (wasn't even warm, think ice cold). The fried shrimp and house made chips were good. The slaw didn't have much flavor. Good location with great views of the gulf. I liked ordering at the counter and the restaurant was very clean. Their burgers looked good and seemed very popular.Originally, I went in to try their lobster roll, but they were sold out. Not sure if I'll go back to try it. ?Parking: Parking can be confusing. The parking lot needs to be re-striped due to its unusual layout.

We were visiting Galveston for the Tall Ships event and had lunch at The Anchor while we were waiting on the Ship Parade. We knew beforehand that it would be a busy time and we were prepared for that but were pleasantly surprised at how quickly we received our order.I had the fried fish po-boy and my husband had the fried shrimp po-boy.Both sandwiches were absolutely delicious and served hot with crispy hot fries. The drink station was self-serve which we truly appreciate in establishments like this - that are normally busy during the weekends, summer months, and for special events. It just makes sense to take this responsibility off the wait staff.Kudos to the whole Anchor team for their "hustle" and "can do" attitudes as it was very busy, there were big groups and people were wanting to move chairs and tables outside to get a view of the ships. We always try to "support local" while traveling and love "hole in the wall" places that cater to the whole vacation experience.I would definitely recommend The Anchor and it's on our "return list" for the next time we are in town.

Really good food at a pretty decent price (for touristy places) with great service to boot. They do try hard, but when they get busy, their service times get kinda long, but they did let us know, and their estimated time was pretty accurate. Definitely recommend, and while there's a number of other restaurants in Galveston we'd like to try, we're be back again.Parking: They're further "down the line" from a lot of other spots along the seawall, so parking usually isn't too bad.

Very disappointing. We ordered two of their Classic Anchor Salads for $10.95 each. As you can see in the picture, they were literally iceberg lettuce dumped from a bag. Seriously, iceberg lettuce and nothing else for $11. The other meal was two fish tacos for $13.95.You read the menu and order while standing at the counter. You get your own drink from the machine and you get your own silverware and take it to your table.I cannot figure out why the ratings are so high.

My family of four had lunch here today and it was great. Everything was cooked perfectly and there are a variety of dipping sauces to choose from and all were delicious. The fries are well seasoned and the shrimp tasted fresh. They have indoor and shaded outdoor seating with great views of the water. Our boys are 1 and 3 so it's not always easy going out to eat but we were comfortable and well taken care of. We will definitely be back.Kid-friendliness: Plenty of space for high chair seating between tables.

This catchy little place is a little hidden but the hustle of the road. Its a cute little joint, nothing fancy! You order then sit and they bring you the food. The staff was super friendly and helpful! The food was good but I feel the burgers could've been more elevated, example, the green Chile burger was a patty with mustard and some canned green chiles slapped on it, no cheese and messy. It was a good burger but not what I expected. I'd go back and try a different one! The clam chowder was absolutely delicious! Give a try!

We had a great visit to The Anchor! It was a Thursday lunch and the place was hopping! We placed our order inside and then went outside to look for a table. There were no empty seats outside so we stood at the square bar area. A sweet girl named Faith brought us some bar stools so we could sit. We didn't know that there was a Tall Ship parade happening that day! A nice man sitting next to us outside showed us a picture he was able to zoom in on with his phone and sent it to me! Our food (hamburger and fries) took quite awhile to arrive because the restaurant was packed. Joe, one of the managers stopped in to check on us and apologized for the wait and thanked us for our patience. He wanted to provide a free dessert and we chose the key lime pie, which was delicious and refreshing! Between the caring staff and the other fun patrons in the restaurant along with a great meal, it was a 5 star experience!

Food was really good. The beer battered fish is amazing. Staff was super friendly, quick to get your food to you, and they checked on you just the right amount. Love sitting outside under the tiki hut...food was good along with service. There is no sit at bar but you go up to the bar and order. They also have an outside bar but the few times we have been there its not been open...once summer hits I'm sure it will be though.
