Started with the chili con queso and added ground beef, and it did not dissapoint! There was so much beef in the queso I could have made it a meal! The cheese enchiladas were the best I have ever had and the homemade tamales were delicious! Our waiter was wonderful and made us feel right at home. There’s a reason this place has been in business since 1916, great food and great service!
Had it not been for the billboard advertising this restaurant I would have never known it existed- and it’s been around since 1911 in Galveston, Texas as the oldest continuously running establishment! I loved their Queso, Guacamole and especially their Butterfly Shrimp! The servers were attentive and courteous and the place felt cozy!Parking: I came up on a sign stating “Parking for The Original Mexican Cafe Only” about a block before the restaurant, so we pulled into it, then walked about a block to reach the entrance to the Cafe. We noticed there is free street parking available too, if you can find a spot.
