Monterey's Little Mexico Grand Prairie

I used to visit this place in 2001. In 2025 the food atmosphere and service is still outstanding. I highly recommend this restaurant. You'll absolutely enjoy it!

I had a very good experience in this place, the food is good but it can be better. Atmosphere is good but I think is a little bit dark. The physical menu is too big and it looks dirty (probably is not) it is time to update it with some.pictutes. anyways, overall good experience. BTW. I never see a waiter like Diego. Looks like he was the only one attending several tables. He was fast, always checking our table and very friendly.

This has been my favorite Mexican restaurant since I discovered it in 2012.
To this day, they have the best enchiladas, best salsa (especially the green salsa), best margaritas and avocados.
Not only is the taste and quality the best, but their prices are very reasonable.
I always get a house margarita and it's only a few dollars and I love the overly dominate lime flavor. I've tried many other places' margaritas but they can never beat Monterey's.
Every friend or family I have taken here always agrees they have very good food.
I wish I still lived in the area but now I'm in SW Arlington so it's a 25+ minute drive, but is still worth it.

For my daughter's birthday, I asked her where she wanted to go and she said Monterey's Little Mexico. Being there from out of state, I had her direct me there. The outside was unassuming. We went inside and I was mildly surprised.
They had a good selection of dishes and beers and margaritas. We ordered, she had the enchiladas (3) and I had the enchilada and tacos. The food came quickly and I asked for a bowl of their hottest salsa which I poured the whole bowl on my food. Honestly, given the outside, I wasn't expecting much. Boy was I wrong. The salsa was very flavorful, even the extra hot one. The tacos were made the way I make them. The enchiladas were stuffed with meat (both of us had grilled chicken). It's hard to say much about the refried beans and Spanish rice, except to say they too were very good. No spots where the beans had not been cooked enough and were rock hard or so mashed that it was more like bean paste and trust me I've had to endure both. No, these were cooked to perfection, as was the rice. And the hot salsa I asked for was delicious. It wasn't burn your face off but it got my attention. All this to say, if you are looking for a taste of Mexico and are in the Grand Prairie area, you should treat yourself to the cuisine at Monterey's Little Mexico.

Austin our server was awesome. The taco fajita meat texture NOT so good. Spoke with the manager and she informed me that they get serval complaints and walked away. The manager didn't apologize as she walked away I did asked if she was going to give me a discount and she replied ma'am I'm going to remove it from your ticket, she could have said that when speaking with me. As we were leaving we didn't get a thank you come back again.

Came in with a party of 22 people after watching the play down the street, Amie did a fabulous job of keeping up with everyone, even after we kept changing orders and adding desert!
