Purple Garlic is our hands down favorite Italian restaurant! Coming here is like "Cheers" where when you walk in, "Everyone knows your name" and make you feel right at home. Chris, the manager, is so accommodating and keeps things running smoothly. This restaurant doesn't have an overly extensive menu, but what they have is prepared wonderfully. No matter what we have ordered, it always tastes great! Also, they make one of the best pizzas in San Antonio. Come here and you won't be disappointed!

Was told by many of my clients how wonderful this place was. Cute place with a great ambiance. Should have left after I was told there was no egg plant parmasan available, the whole reason for going. So I ordered a subpar pizza with not much flavor. Hopefully your not in any hurry as its takes for ever to get your food and the service is very slow. Pizza arrived and was asked if I would like parmasan cheese with crushed red peppers still waiting for it. Okay place if your not in a hurry.

Very nice Italian food, especially the roasted garlic! Also the chicken Marsala. And the pasta Formaggio - very nice flavor and pasta texture.

Went there for an early dinner with friends but when we got there at 5:45, the wait was already 45 minutes for 4 adults and 1 child. There were empty tables but each only had 4 chairs. When asked if we can add a chair, we were told that the manager doesn't like chairs to be moved. As we waited for our friends to park, we asked about the outside tables, we were told the same. I left my phone number for the waitlist and waited for our friends to see if they wanted to go somewhere else. At that point, the host asked me if we would be willing to take one table on the "back room". When we went back there, there were 2 empty tables. They could not be put together due to interfering with staff flow but was offered a table for 4 with an extra chair added. Not sure why the difference in the back room versus the front room but we took it to avoid waiting 45 mins. We ordered 2 appetizers, bruschetta and calamari. Both were delicious and enjoyed by the adults. For the main course, my husband, friend and I ordered the Chicken Piccata and my friend's husband ordered a pizza. For their daughter, she wanted spaghetti with meat sauce. The spaghetti arrived and the meat sauce was not visible. We all thought it was with just a bit of marinara sauce but it turned out the "meat" was at the bottom. At the end, my friend's daughter refused it. She said it didn't like it. The Chicken Piccata was good but the pizza was average. So, it was a mixed review but enough positives to give the restaurant a 3.5 to 4 star. Will come back to see how it fairs the next time We may come

We ordered 3 eggplant Parmesan dinners, waitress was not attentive at all. We asked for grated Parmesan & crushed red pepper flakes 3 x(2x from waitress & once from someone else. Never got it. In All 3 eggplant dinners, the eggplant was burned to a crisp. Portions are very small considering the price. Waitress never offered to get more tea, even though our glasses were empty. We did not complain because, the way we were ignored all evening, none of us felt like expending the energy to complain, only to be ignored again. Left a generous 25% tip which was wholly undeserved. Maybe the waitress was new, maybe she was not adequately trained to be an attentive server, whatever the issue I don’t recommend this restaurant.

Some friends introduced us to this restaurant a couple weeks ago, and now we cannot stop going. It's so delicious! Their spinach artichoke dip is to die for, and I really loved their creamy pesto. Staff is always so pleasant and nice. I love the atmosphere of this restaurant, it's so relaxing. Joan, our server is always such a light. She takes really good care of her guests and knows how to make you feel welcome. Chris, the manager is so nice I love that she goes around and checks on people and makes you feel like family.

My daughter, grandson and I went to eat , Friday, March 22 nd. The host was polite. We sat in a corner by the kitchen. Several waiters and waitresses walked passed our table. Not a single soul waited on us. it didn't appear to be busy. there was definitely enough help. We sat and waited and no one came. This restaurant has good reviews so we decided to try it out. I don't believe we're coming back. I shared my concern with the host. she apologize. Nothing changed so we left. One star rating for the host.

We visited for my birthday and given the location we didn't expect much, but somehow trusted the reviews, it did not disappoint, from the moment we parked a high table on barrels in front of our vehicle, was a bit odd but cute. Walking in there was only one table occupied, and I was about to regret our visit, but we were treated so friendly and the place is really cute with a couple of tables with an umbrella inside the restaurant, which simulated the sensation of eating on a street of Italy, rounded by natural plants and some plastic vines, it was just to cute and that made it a bit hard to leave. We found our seat immediately and we were treated very friendly and fast but respectful of the time we were taking to review the menu. Our friendly waiter whom just came from Maui suggested a couple of dishes, so we took her advice and no regrets, their chicken piccata a spaghetti with cappers and wine was delicious. Even the bread was delicious, we had to asked for seconds on the bread. I enjoyed a nice glass of Malbec from Mendoza with my creamy penne pesto. Nice music and super fast service. As we were eating the place started to get packed by the time we left people kept coming in. I guess we just came to eat too early. Oh yeah and price so worth it. By the way, my only suggestion to the place, would be to replace the bread trays, as they are red plastic and it does not do go with the ambience of the place. Truly recommended. Definitely coming back.

This is a smallish restaurant and you will probably have to wait, but once in, the service is excellent and the food is even better! There are two small dining rooms, so the ambiance is quieter than a large, open room.

I don't have much to say, except that the food and the atmosphere are exceptional! I mean, I only had the pizza, but it was still delicious. The waiters are friendly and understanding. In my opinion, this place is the better Olive Garden.

Love. I can't remember the exact name, but I think about their Gorgonzola pasta regularly.
