“Had the pistachio cake at Cometa and fell in love because it is so light and moist! Then went to the bakery to order cake and cupcakes for a birthday party, and got so many compliments about how gorgeous and tasty they were! I was so pleased with the service I received!“

“Delicious!!!!! This was my first time here and my goodness was it good! The beverages, the food, our appetizer….all delicious! The service was good as well. The young lady was very knowledgeable and seemed to know what everything tasted like. She made very yummy suggestions and we can’t wait to go back! I’m a sucker for fried plantains and tostones. I got that and more! I had the bistec encebolla’o (cubed steak) with a guava juice. It was a simple dish and yet so perfectly prepared. I ate the whole thing. Sadly no leftovers to eat for later but no regrets here! My husband had the cassa-pleta sandwich with the Tropi cola champagne soda. Let me just say there was plenty of ogling on my end. Lol I did taste the soda, and it tastes like a cream soda with like a cherry cream aftertaste. It was yummy! The sandwich though…juicy and delicious! If you’re coming for the first time, that’s something I’d definitely recommend. My kids ordered the masitas de pollo (fried chicken) with rice & beans in the rice along with the ham & cheese sandwich off the kids menu. They had lemonades, made fresh and had the pulp! Super refreshing. The portions on the masitas de pollo plate were big. The chicken is fried but not with a breading. It’s pan fried. The rice is addicting! The ham and cheeses sandwich was on their fresh bread with some butter. It is a cold sandwich but let me say, simple and yet tasty enough that all of it was eaten. The appetizer that we ordered was the appetizer tray. It had everything and it was well worth it. We ate all of as well. The portions were big and you will get full. I highly recommend this place!Kid-friendliness: The kids menu had some good options and the server offered to give us the kids portion of a none kids menu item when ordering. The sandwich we ordered was huge for a kid but very tasty.“

“Saturday morning, I've just returned home after being gone for work and felt like having some menudo. My wife suggested this place which is just around the corner from us so I went. There where a few people ahead of me and I didn't mind because the smell of fresh bread and pastries is so invigorating. So I placed my order for my menudo to go and 6 extra bolillos. Oh the bread had just finished being baked and it was delicious. I couldn't help myself to a lil piece in the car. Get home and both my wife and I enjoyed our yummy menudo and freshly baked bread and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for delicious authentic Mexican sweet bread and food.“

“I had heard of Marina’s bakery for a while and I finally decided to try it.I got the German Chocolate cake and I was absolutely blown away!!As somebody who has baked cakes since I was 8, I can tell when a cake is good as soon as I slice it. I was able to cut it smoothly with a butter knife. The cake was so moist and delicate with a hint of Coffee in the frosting to say the least it was delicious.I’ve been to so many bakeries in El Paso to try out their cakes, but this is the only one that has actually impressed me! I will be coming back soon to try everything else! “

“My family and I went to the location on George Dieter. Overall the service was horrible and breakfast. Waited online and they referred us to sit outside. During the time it was cold and breezy which made it uncomfortable for my daughter who is 7. It was only a family of 3 but the hostess was sitting people of 2 on a 4 chair sitting. We should have known it was going to be bad. Received our breakfast and I ordered the All-American Scramble, a horrible breakfast, it was cold and the fruit cocktail was water down with egg in it, no butter for my toast, and the toast wasn't toast it was stale. Same with my husband's order. The area was dirty over the capacity and the restroom stalls for the gentleman were not working. Overall the experience was horrible and very unpleasant. The sitting area was dirty and not cleaned properly. Not going to Corner Baker again.“

“I love this place. I really appreciate the welcoming disposition of every single worker. They have great attitudes and make time to speak to everyone. To me that shows that they take pride in what they do. I LOVE their burritos. I’m not the biggest fan of chile colorado in general but I kept being told that it was amazing. I finally tried it. It’s amazing! Like really good. Their chile rellenos are delicious and their picadillo and desebrada a la mexicana are mouth watering. So the food in addition with the great service and the quaint and comfortable mom and pop shop feel make this a winning combo. ??“

“This place has the best bolillos/francecitos. Sweet bread is pretty good, but the bolillos are the best. Their downside is the menudo. I don't recommend the menudo. They don't have tamales, although they're advertised. Their prices are very decent.“

Mami's Bakery Bakery • $
1475 George Dieter Dr N, El Paso - 6.52 miles

“I'm going to say 4.5 stars and round up. Mami's is your typical mom and pop neighborhood panderia or bakery. They offer lots of pan dulce or sweet bread, along with tamales and burritos. They had menudo on weekends. I'm not sure if they do anymore but I remember it being good. Their red pork tamales were also good. I haven't had their green or sweet tamales yet. They're $13 a dozen. I didn't get any this time. I used to stop by more frequently when I lived down the street. I'd sometimes go after mass at St. Stephen. I miss attending mass! I was in the neighborhood the other day so I stopped by. The owner is very nice and helpful. She always has been. I ordered some cookies and pastries to take to my grandparents and to the house. I had this chocolate sugar cookie with sprinkles. It was really good! I didn't know how sweet it would be. It was perfect for me because it wasn't too sweet. It was just right. It was also really crunchy. My favorite Mexican-type pastry is the elote. I don't know if it's really called that but my grandma and mom always called it that. It's long and sugary on the outside. It has lots of red jelly inside of it. It's so good! I also ordered a couple of mini pies in raspberry and pineapple. Not too bad for $5 and change. I'll definitely stop by again. Mami's is following safety precautions. You must wear a mask to enter and social distance.“

“Greggerson’s has been a family favorite since I got married in 1972. My future sister-in-law carried a two tiered Gregerson wedding wedding cake all the way from El Paso to Alpine Texas for my wedding. Ever since then Every single cake that I have needed for a special occasion has come from Greggerson’s. This includes a cake that I’m picking up this very afternoon March 19, 2024. I cannot count how many cakes I have enjoyed and served to Guest family and friends. Greggerson’s the best. The white almond flavored icing with the white cake is a family favorite. My grandchildren love an extra cupcake when I pick up our orders.“

“Stopped by for a torta. Only have 2 choices, colita de pavo and carnitas. I had the carnitas, it was good for the price. Would be nice if they had more choices of tortas. They also had burritos, maybe next time we'll try those, they have more choices. Need more selection of chips, they just have the Mexican chips. Nothing wrong with that but would be nice to have doritos, hot fries, BBQ chips etc too.“
