I got the spicy tangy chicken egg drop soup and sampler appetizer . The appetizer was very good no complaints! The fried rice was good too, but the chicken and egg drop soup wasn’t. The chicken had no flavor although it was supposed to be spicy tangy, only thing spicy was the jalapeños. I wasn’t fond of the texture of the chicken it tasted like to chicken skin too soft and slimy. Some cuts of the meat made me question what I am eating. Egg drop soup a texture thing as well but I can’t judge it too much I never had it before. The server checked in on my group multiple times while also attending to others in a timely fashion and was helpful explaining what’s in each dish. Atmosphere wise I didn’t really like the layout the tables were packed in there, it would be more open and scenic with less tables and maybe some thing moved around accordingly. My experience was a 6/10

I had the orange beef. Holy mother of pearl. It was so incredibly good. Go and order the orange beef. Get me some while you’re at it

I bit pricey for what you get. The food was ok. The service was good.

A nice quiet place for a relaxing dinner or lunch. Great menu options and lunch specials.
Try one of their local favorites!

Sat a group after us before us then proceeded to stare at us from behind the bar cleaning bar ware watching us stand there with our toddler instead of cleaning the tables to sit us for over five minutes and others waiting is wild. Might I add our toddler was not acting out. We left. We will never come back.

Although the space is nice and the service friendly - I have to note how un-allergen friendly this restaurant is. I have been to several sushi restaurants where a sesame allergy can be accommodated, but several of the rolls here have sesame premixed or pretopped on the sushi. It would be a wonderful thing if that was not premixed, especially considering sesame is one of the top allergens in the country. Otherwise great spot, but unfortunate how limiting the menu can be!

Akashi has alot of options. For lunch, you cannot beat their prices and quality, especially the bento boxes. For dinner, I always do sushi rolls or the sashimi/nigiri plates. Lunch is never too packed bit for dinner, show up around 5-6 or closer to 8 as it gets busy. Also, they have great Moscow Mules.

Parking: Parking when they are busy can be tough. Mostly, the open parking will be behind the gas station tho, it's still in the same shopping center so no street crossing!

There was no one in the restaurant and service was still slow. On the way to the restroom, there were high chairs on the floor and stacked boxes.

Service is good, the sushi is completely adequate. It is slightly better quality, compared to HEB sushi, a little more affordable. My problem is with the other dishes. The fried agedashi was terrible. I can't expect the tofu itself to be seasoned, but the dashi itself was extremely watery, no sea flavor at all. I decided to let that slide, but when I received my Kastudon I was aghast. They served me a bowl of rice (not sushi rice, but I can let that slide sinc3 that's just personal preference) with a dry fried pork cutlet, a separate, runny egg, and minimal sauce. No onions, that's it. The egg puck and the pork were sitting separately on the bed of loose rice. If you think I'm being dramatic about this, please look for pictures of Katsudon online to understand why I was very disappointed by the public school lunch version I am describing. I suggest that you come here for the cheaper sushi, don't deviate away from that menu.
