Love the atmosphere of this place. Great spot for a date night out. I came out on a Thursday around 9:30 and it was pretty packed. Didn’t have to wait too long to find 3 seats at the bar though. Great old fashion mezcal and palomas! I forgot the lady’s name that was helping us, Regina? I know it started with an R though - stellar service!!

My wife and I had a great time at Bar Buena after dinner. Right from the start, the experience was welcoming, the gentleman who opened the door was very cordial and courteous. From that moment, you could already sense the great evening ahead.
The atmosphere was fantastic, with pleasant music at just the right volume, perfect for enjoying both the place and the company. The service was top-notch which made the night even better.
When we first arrived, the bar was completely full, so we grabbed drinks and waited by a small spot. Soon after, a couple left, and their friend tried to take the seats, but the waitress politely pointed out that we had been waiting first. Even though the friend still sat down, I appreciated the effort from the staff. Later, something similar happened: two guys walked in just as another couple was leaving, and they went straight for the seats. To my surprise, another waitress immediately stepped in and reserved them for us. That level of attentiveness was impressive and definitely a big plus for this cozy, charming bar.
The drinks were delicious, reasonably priced, and consistent, each one cost the same, and none felt overpriced.
Overall, Bar Buena delivered a wonderful experience, thanks to its inviting vibe, great service, and tasty drinks. It’s the kind of spot we’d happily return to.

Looking for a chill, sexy date night spot? Bar Buena is where it’s at! This was our first time in Houston on a girls’ trip before my bestie gets married. Since we all love tequila and tacos, this seemed like a perfect match! Walking into Bar Buena is like stepping into an authentic Mexican cantina. We had some cocktails with Mexican gin and whiskey- so yummy! Sampling some mezcal flights took our experience to a whole other level. Our server, Marilyn, was amazing & and very helpful in steering us towards delicious tacos, aguachili and guacamole. If you like dark and moody upscale vibes and 5 star service, I highly recommend Bar Buena!

The place has a nice atmosphere, but the service was very disappointing. We only received one round of drinks (2 total) and guacamole before being left waiting at our table for 40 minutes. Our server never returned after a larger group arrived, even though he checked on them multiple times. Unfortunately, we ended up leaving without getting any further service.

It really feels like they pick and choose who gets in. I visited on Friday around 7:45 p.m. and was immediately put off by the service. When I walked up to the person taking names for the waitlist, he didn’t greet me at all. Instead, he went straight into, “We have a lot of people on the waitlist if you want to be added, you can.” The tone felt dismissive, almost as if I was bothering him.
I told him I wanted to be added to the Bar Buena waitlist. Keep in mind, I was standing at Bar Buena askign about Bar Buena. He took my information but didn’t ask how many were in my party, just my name and phone number. When I realized he didnt ask me for the party size, I went back and a different staff member was at the door. I told him I wasnt asked about my party size. He asked for my name, and when I showed him my confirmation text, he told me I had been added to the Goode Co. list instead and his tone was as if I amde the mistake. Why was I added to Goode CO.? I have no idea. I never asked for Goode Co., nor was I waiting there. That was already a major red flag.
The second staff member offered to add me correctly to Bar Buena. While entering my information, I noticed he was careless I spelled out my last name, but he just typed the letter “N.” When he got to my phone number, he tilted the iPad away so I couldn’t see. I never received a confirmation text afterward. When I asked about it, he ignored me and instead chose to assist other women standing nearby.
In the end, I never received a waitlist text and clearly was never added properly :) Overall, the entire experience made me feel unwelcome and disregarded.

I really enjoyed my time here solo. Perfect place to have a drink lowkey or an after dinner drink with friends. The pick your own tequila or mezcal flight was the perfect way to try a few. The crab tostadas were so yum. I'll be back.
