Always a meal that is worth it. I haven’t anything that fell short. I have been to 3 locations and the staff in each is friendly and welcoming, they seem to like their job.

We go to Sheppard for breakfast every other week. Super kitchen and super wait staff, Pam and Hervey.

Staff was friendly when we walked in, and the wait staff was attentive at first. Service slowed down later in the meal, and it took quite a while to get a refill and eventually our check. The food itself tasted good, but unfortunately both my wife and I experienced digestive issues a few hours afterward. We hadn’t eaten anything else before or after, so it was likely related to the meal. Overall, an average experience and a 3/5 for us.

I always order the cheese burger and fries - constantly good every time! I would suggest to order a side of honey mustard to dip the burger & fries for a little sweet & tangy addition.

We had a wonderful time at Barnaby’s Café. The moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt friendly, relaxed, and welcoming — the kind of place where you instantly feel comfortable.
The staff were amazing: attentive, kind, and very professional. They made sure we had everything we needed and checked on us just the right amount.
The food was absolutely delicious. Everything came out fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. You can really tell that Barnaby’s puts care into every dish. It’s the kind of meal that leaves you happy and satisfied.
The combination of great service, tasty food, and a cozy environment makes Barnaby’s Café one of those places you want to return to again and again. We truly enjoyed our visit and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great dining experience.

I’ll start with the acknowledgment that I only ever went once and tried one thing - so my review is inherently flawed. Please read with a grain of salt. But since I am turned off from the idea of returning on the basis of that one experience, I’ll go ahead and leave a review already.
I ordered the healthy plate. The server was lovely and accommodating and the service was prompt. The food was quite simple - which is not a flaw per se, if the price is fair, which I think it is in Barnaby’s case - but the experience was not great.
I had the weirdest chicken sausage of my life; it tasted so strongly of cinnamon and nutmeg it invited comparison to a Christmas-time cinnamon roll, but in an unpleasant way. It also had the texture of bits of ground rubbery tendon-y chicken parts, so I ended up swallowing the first bite out of politeness but not eating any further.
The cold scrambled eggs seemed to completely lack seasoning - not even salt. And the fruit cup contained just old, wilty, room-temperature fruit, so I ended up not touching it. In total I think I took maybe two or three bites before abandoning my meal.
Another thing influencing my opinion was my perception of the cleanliness of the place. The bathroom kind of gave me the ick when I went to wash my hands and some of the mirrors and tables were a bit dirty. I’m something of a germaphobe so bear that in mind, but it ended up having an additional negative effect on my experience of the food. If you too have the cultural conditioning of an east European immigrant mom with respect to hygiene, I give a fair warning that you will not love Barnaby’s.
All in all, service was great and I tipped fairly (25%) but I would not recommend Barnaby’s to someone looking for a new eatery.

I travel for work and I stumbled upon this place while in Houston. The food is fantastic, to the point I ate there 4 days in a row. The portions were very generous, and the atmosphere and staff were great as well.

After the Houston Half Marathon, my friends and I went to Barnaby’s Café on S. Shepherd for a well-earned breakfast. The room had an upbeat neighborhood energy, lively without being chaotic. Amelia took terrific care of us from start to finish. Warm welcome, quick refills, and just the right amount of check ins. Kudos to Amelia for being outstanding.
The food was excellent across the board, and the clear winner was the Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs. The crust was crisp and well-seasoned, the gravy comforting without feeling heavy, and the eggs were cooked exactly as requested. It was the perfect recovery plate after a long run.
We also enjoyed the French Toast Breakfast Sandwich and a classic Breakfast Plate. Both were executed cleanly, with fluffy eggs and hearty sides that felt thoughtfully prepared rather than filler.
A special note on the salads. No matter what you choose, you cannot go wrong, especially because the portions are big. Fresh, balanced, and satisfying, they work as a full meal or for sharing.
All told, this was another great visit. With food that overdelivers, portions that satisfy, and service that makes you feel looked after, Barnaby’s remains our go to spot for a post-race breakfast.

I ordered the mushroom swiss burger and my girlfriend got the chicken & waffles. When the food came out, we didn’t get any utensils or napkins and I had to get it from an empty table. When we finished, I had to go ask for the check and a container at the front because nobody checked up on us. The food was decent but on the bland side. The decorations were nice though. The overall experience did not live up to the reviews we read.
