I decided to give Calabar a try today. There is no way they should have a 3.8 star rating here. This has to be the worst food I have ever ordered. NEVER AGAIN ! The food presentation is like something out of a horror movie. And the taste - Simply gross. And don't get me started on employee's attitudes- ???

Don't ever order food from here. They barely give any soup and the lady I spoke to had an attitude and hung up on me. This is their "fisherman" soup.Update: They had the gall to call me back upset about the 1 star review I left. Whoever I spoke to clearly has no clue about proper customer service. Common Okra soup I ordered with my fisherman soup they can't cook properly. To whomever I spoke with..don't worry ma'am about me ever ordering food from you. I wouldn't recommend your food to a dying dog.

We loved the eating in person at the restaurant, until it was time for her to ship our order to us in another state.We ordered 7 plates of pepper soup and one half of countainer of egusi soup. She stated she did overnight shipping, however, we never received the shipment until two days later. she stated she had put insurance on the food but they were unable to give her a refund due to being perishable. which she never mentioned to us. Before she even sent the food it took her nearly a week to ship it out. We kept calling and calling. When she did ship the food, she did not properly wrapped/ secured the food(no buble wrap/plastic wrap or seal). Everything was damaged on arrival. We paid $100 for a down payment of our $165 food order. Then we paid $125 for shipping. We called her that our food was damaged due to her improper storage method which she was un remorseful. We even told her to at least send us the refund the USPS gave her since they didn't keep to the promise of her overnight shipment but she refused to send us the money back. I've known restaurants to compensate customers, especially with the poor packaging of food which you're sending to another state. The owner of this business is very unprofessional. I wished I had insight into how much of a nightmare this whole thing would have been, I wouldn't of bothered ordering from there. So in total, she still owes us our balance of money in which she blocked both myself and my husband's numbers. If I could have given her business 0 stars, I would! Over two weeks of trying to communicate with her to no avail. So unprofessional in the way she response to issue and handle business.

DO NOT GO HERE ! The absolute worst place you can ever get nigerian food from. the food was not even close to decent. we were overcharged and when we asked for explanation she began to riot and cuss us all out. almost laid a hand on my sister. never go here -5/10

Very poor customer service. The lady treats her customers badly and even called me a b****! I will not patronize this merchant again, and I will not recommend their meal to anyone looking for a nice African restaurant, as their food is bland and a waste of money.

The owner is very nice & lovely. Like any restaurant it does take time to make a made to order meal.So, call in advance. My husband and i came in December 2021, we were on a trip and didnt discover this gem untill towards our last few days in Houston. We ate here back to back. Food was delicious. Especially the fisheman soup (our favorite). We loved the pepper soup as well. We can wait to come back to town and eat here again. Do you guys ship to other states? If so we would be steady customers!

The front desk lady is without a doubt the worst person I have ever met, and she is not made for business. She was unpleasant and tried to fight my family and myself, not to mention that she is a crafty and dishonest thief who does not understand basic math and charged us more for our food than she had on her web menu. I advise her to seek God and improve her life.

DO NOT GO HERE!!!My family and I went thinking we were gonna have a good dinner but the front lady made our night lamentable, she was a bit nice at first but then the problem was the charges, she brought the bill and we were charged an unreasonable amount of money, and she refused to explain why all the extra money was charged, she insulted us and refused to give us our receipt and kicked us out. What is all this rubbish?The lady is so brainless and slow witted she needs to learn how to teach her customers right!!!

Very bad experience. A lady named Stephanie Ita collected my money when I order isi ewu and ofe nsala here and did not send my food and refused to pick my calls or reply my text. It is either they are thieves or they have fraudulent staff. She claimed to be the owner and I spoke with her with the number on the website and her personal number. I will never recommend anybody to dine where there are fraudulent people. From owners response, this is a lie, there was no communication about my order and no refund. And nobody made you a death treat.

Bad service, the cook was loud and insulting. She refused to correct our food orders or come speak to us and she made threats to short down the kitchen. She was also screaming so loud on the waiter, we were thinking she was on drugs. It was very embarrassing, not sure I will go back there.
