A favorite for over 20 years.
I had the Palomilla. The meat was not fresh. It tasted very bad. Otherwise, the food was fine.
The food was delicious and the customer service was excellent! Thank you!
Was really good food. Thanks.
We ordered a lot of food and some are salty and don’t taste very good. Service is okay but they added over $60 for service.
I wouldn’t recommend the place as it is expensive and the food is not even an average food.
I went there few days ago. Wanted to take my mom since it was one of my favorite restaurants. The place seems to have lost its charm. The waiter was not very attentive. The food was Ok , nothing extraordinary, in fact a bit overpriced for what it was. The place had a weird smell, like dirty carpet. Hopefully it was a bad day and not the new vibe for the restaurant. Seems like the place is run down overall, food, service , ambience. 2 stars place.
This was the best meal of our long weekend from Austin. Exquisite food; the pork belly with vanilla, honey and fresh pear was to die for, and the black bean nachos with fried plantains were mouth watering!!
Great sangria, personnel is very diverse and attentive, they make you feel like in “casa”. Atmosphere is great for going as a solo woman, neurodivergent folks or just a cozy date with your partner.

The food and service here were quite good. They have an Arroz Negro to die for, pretty good Queso Flameado, and an extensive wine list… Parking is a bit of a pain if you don’t want to spend $7 for valet; but, you get 2 hours free in the garage across the street. I’ll definitely be back to eat at El Mesón, even if it is a bit of a drive from my house. Well worth it!

I stopped in to check out the menu and was pleased to find that they are a Cuban owned establishment! This immediately made me want to try almost every Cuban and Spanish dish on the menu but I had to restrain myself and start out small! ? ! I ordered a lunch special of the Picadillo with black beans, rice and fried plantain!! I’m must say I’m hooked!! This is the best Cuban food I’ve had since my childhood!! My late Cuban mother was an amazing cook and made many of the dishes on the menu!! El Meson is one of those places where you drop in and discover an hidden culinary treasure!! I plan to come back very soon!! Love this place!!!

Spectacular, every time we go we like it more and more. It reminds me of Spain and it takes me back to those times when I lived there. The best food in the world is in Spain...and this place represents it

Sunday night we had trouble with a restaurant that wouldn’t serve us because we walked in at 8:10 (8:14 by the time the hostess came to us). We decided to try El Meson. We asked if it would be ok with the kitchen and they welcomed us with open arms. El Meson is always comfort food but tonight it was just so particularly tasty and delicious. Thank you El Meson for making us feel at home!!! Shout out to our waiter Israel. Excellent service!!!

Tapas are not up to snuff. Tortilla was mostly big chunks of potato, little egg...very bad texture. Lamb meatballs were ok. Croquetas de jamón tasted not fresh and were soggy. Considering the high prices ($50 for the three tapas) definitely a bad value. Perhaps the Cuban and tex Mex are better, the restaurant was busy on a Friday night.

Thanks for making my birthday a good dining experience. The subtle music made it possible for my friend who forgot her hearing aids possible for us to converse. So many restaurants these days play music so loud you can't even talk to the person next to you. Service and attention were attentive. Not overbearing. Food - I didn't realize the scallops were wrapped in bacon so it made it too salty. We loved the lamb meatballs and shared. The shrimp with garlic was delicious. I ate the sauce from my friend's bowl. The sea bass with mashed potatoes was delicious. I will be back soon. Reviewer, go in the afternoon if you want a quiet and not crowded dining experience. My party of 4 spent 180. Tax and tip not included. 1 had a glass of wine.
