I come to epicure cafe because it has delicious pastries. I really wanted to give a chance to their food more then one time. Most food lack flavor and salt. I asked for the Egg Benedict and the hollandaise sauce was just whipped butter. The staff is always nice and friendly.

The people were nice and chocolate Vienna was alright, but otherwise the food was very disappointing. The cinnamon roll and pumpkin danish were tough (seemed old), and the pulled pork panini was watery-greasy and lukewarm (I actually only took one bite and stopped, as I am cautious about food poisoning). The lentil soup seemed like it was canned, and the fries seemed like they were just from a bag of frozen fries. Overall, everything seemed underseasoned, and most things seemed old. We won’t be going back…
I’m not really one to leave many reviews but I ordered an eggplant sandwich to go because they said it would be really quick and I had to be somewhere. It took 25 minutes and it honestly wasn’t great with dry bread. I’ve been there before and had a really nice time but I think they are just are backed up or don’t give to-go orders priority. It may just be a one-off though.

So I am an employee of River oaks shopping center. I asked for 4 pumpkin danishes and two croissants , but the young lady who was putting my desserts in a to go container decides to only give me one pumpkin Danish instead of the four that I requested. I told the lady twice that I wanted four pumpkin danishes and I even hold it up four fingers. There were plenty of danishes on display for people to purchase I always go in there in order three or four. This kind of ruined my whole entire day kind of almost makes me not want to purchase another item.

Epicure is a casual restaurant and cafe. It offers soups, salads, sandwiches and number of hot dishes, spanning the US, Western Europe, the middle East and Latin America. All offerings are fresh and very good quality and so are the beverages available. The prime reason to visit, though is the selection of Central European pastries, torts and cookies. These are unavailable elsewhere in Houston, and are of prime quality. since the baker trained in Budapest, Vienna and other European capitals. Epicure recently changed ownership and one can only hope their offering s will not change in breadth and quality
Casual order at the counter, good selection of entrées and a dangerously beautiful case full of amazing looking pastries, which I resisted.

This place is a gem. We were warmly welcomed by the owner and his uncle, and when they discovered our son had a birthday that day, they insisted on treating him to the dessert of his choice. He felt so special.
Our lunch was enjoyable: The curried shrimp salad was tasty, brimming with different textures and served a generous portion of shrimp. Others ordered the blue-cheese burger, which was also tasty but rich and on the heavy side. We topped off lunch with pastries to go: the crowd favorites are the Princess and the Pistachio cakes. We also ordered slices of Tiramisu, Vienna torte, a Chocolate Tart, and the White Chocolate Raspberry Mousse.
We look forward to visiting again!

Cafe was sold and I am assuming new owners run it. It's not the same and we stopped going there. Biggest issue is there paid parking lot. 30 minutes free and then you get charged. Average food, no local character anymore, and a hassle to park.
