The food was amazing. This was some of the best soul food I’ve had so far in all my times of coming to Houston. The staff was super friendly! One staff member that stood out in particular was Maria which she was so kind and checked on us constantly! If you’re thinking about coming here please do, I promise it won’t disappoint. I recommend the catfish.
Went to Houston for my birthday and the husband wanted soul food. After searching, Esther’s came up and stayed open later than the other options. The food is served cafeteria style. You pick your main dish and 2 sides. I ordered fried catfish, Mac & cheese, greens, and extra side of blackeyed peas. My husband ordered smothered pork chops, Mac & cheese, and okra with tomatoes. Excellent soul food, I visit each time I go to Houston. Atmosphere is very pleasant and comfortable. The service is top of the line and it’s kid friendly as well. Prices are reasonable and they give you more than enough on your plate in which you will need a doggy bag to go.
