It's always a hit or miss at this location. Mesa's location is so much cleaner and friendlier. Food wasn't as fresh as it normally be and the workers there always have an attitude. Could be so much better if the staff was a little more friendlier.

Old school joint serving real food and not gimmick food. Hearty meals prepared fresh daily.The staff here was on point with service, the prices are fair in these ridiculous times and you get quality plates not struggle plates... Even the cornbread was prepared by a soul food professional. When you walk in this spot, expect nothing less than A+ service like the south was known for in the Renaissance Days.

This was a horrible experience. We ordered $80 worth of take out. We used Uber driver to deliver. When the Uber arrived, they only had 1 bag. More than half our order was missing. When we called back, we had to request a Mgr. He said they put two bags on the counter but the Uber driver only picked up 1 bag, but I told the Mgr it was there job to provide the Uber driver with both bags and we would have our order. Then I adviced the Mgr it's his job to make sure we get our order. He said he could not call Uber back, and that was our job. He said would could cancel and get a refund. He then stated he could give us the remainder of our food tomorrow. We were in shock. He stated they close in about 40 min. And we need to send another Uber. I told the Mgr that was terrible business. He never apologized, he just keep saying it's not there fault the Uber driver didn't get both bags. Mgr and my family didn't get our food, this was the worst customer service ever. We would advice never to their services again!! You guys suck for out of towners! You know we couldn't get another Uber ordered in time! You should be ashamed of yourselves.

If you want soul food…. Go somewhere else. Macaroni and cheese wasn’t even melted. There were blocks of cheese throughout. Sweet potatoes wasn’t sweet. Chicken was a little pink inside. The rice was the only decent thing, but even that had too much pepper.

Ordered two entrees, this entree was spoiled as you can see the bubbles on the turkey necks which indicated that they were not for consumption. Are they even edible? NO!! I blame myself for not looking at the food before I left this place of business. I tried calling them when I got to my destination and no one responded back. I even tried calling them on Thursday morning and no called me back. Well I guess I will not support this place of business anymore.

Most amazing food ever but customer service is at zero. I ordered online to save time but it was pointless. I arrived an hour after my pickup time and still waited 20 minutes for my order. No one ever apologized for the wait. In fact, they behaved as though the people waiting in the order line wasn’t even there. No one moved with a sense of urgency. Good food scores high but the customer service isn’t there to match, the restaurant loses big. Never going back.

I used to frequent this location before moving to the Northside near the Mesa location but I was nearby and I deserved a good meal. I arrived at 10:30am and ordered some sausages and hog head cheese, the butcher was dry, unfriendly and rushed so boy was I greatful he took the time out of his busy schedule to assist me! Got home and discovered the cajun beef sausage was spoiled and an attempt to salvage it was made by the butchers by overseasoning it. Money down the drain. I stood in line for the hot bar at 10:45am and the line grew longer and I watched them gradually bring out steam trays. I knew by their speed that they weren't fully prepared because lots of meats and sides weren't brought out. The kitchen opens at 11:00am but by 11:20am someone's auntie shouted from the kitchen that what was available was all they had and it would be another half hour before the full menu was available. Of course what I wanted wasn't out yet so I opted for something else because I was already irritated. I ordered a beef tip plate with mac n cheese and cowboy beans and meatloaf with mac n cheese and black eyed peas. The sides were bland, cheese was runny and beans were hard, the meatloaf wasn't cooked throughly and the meat still looked pink, instead of risking food poisoning I passed on the whole plate. The beef tips weren't tender and could've been cooked at least another 30 mins. The fountain drink machine had water leaking water from the ice machine down from the dispenser so you got a nice mix of water/ice. It was a hard pass.
