We absolutely love this place. Particularly now that they have a “social hour” menu (from 10-5pm) with really well priced sushi sets - you’re looking at extremely high quality sushi in a very casual environment.Their Madai - Sea Bream - is consistently lovelyDefinitely give the tropical tuna a try! It’s one of their specialties and the black garlic sauce is to die for.Kid-friendliness: Their menu is almost entirely raw and the space is very small - I’m sure kids could do just fine here but I would assume it’s difficult to accommodate large groups inside here, and, if you have picky eaters you may struggle

Casual but very nice little neighborhood sushi place. The cold tasting menu is where the best things can be found (don't miss these, especially the tropical tuna). The chutoro sashimi is better than the otoro (the otoro is chopped up into something like an otoro pudding... it's not sashimi, and seems like a very unfortunate way to serve otoro, to me. Even an otoro nigiri would be better, I think.).

Himari is extremely high quality sushi hidden in a small, new area in the heights. This has become a repeat stop for us, especially now that they've added a "social hour" menu with some great sushi sets for a reasonable price - (available weekdays from 11am to 5pm I believe) The service is great, it's rarely busy, and this is also a great spot for lunch (in my opinion) as it's not overly formal. Would highly recommend the tropical tuna and hamachi special (pictured) as they're not found at just any sushi place. Their akami roll on the sushi special is also great. Be sure to get some pieces of madai (sea bream) too!

While the food is good - very tasty and unique dishes, the overall value is just not worth it. The prices have always been high, but now the dishes are getting even smaller (e.g., the sashimi and edamame). We love the food, but will likely not be going back. Plus, the chaos of the outdoors at the stomping ground itself has just gotten insane.

Food is amazing but service, especially drink service, was incredibly slow. For example, it took close to 50 minutes for my friend to receive her first drink order. We had already ordered, received and eaten 4 or 5 items by that point, when cocktails were ordered first. However, playing devil's advocate, the wait staff upstairs seems a bit short staffed as well. All that to say, the food was amazing but the service kinda ruined it for me, which is a shame because I frequent the sister restaurants and the service has always been great.

The sushi was excellent! However when we received our bill they over charged us. We ordered a $35 bottle of saki. It was excellent. And that change was correct. We also ordered the Chutoro Sashimi, it was $16, which was charged correct. Then we ordered The special “sushi set B” which was $43. And they charged us for the “set C” $56. Ugh! I’m too kind and didnt want to ruin our evening so I didn’t say anything when the bill came. According to my calculations the bill should have been $94.00 plus tax and it was $117.00 . And additional $23.00. Which is disappointing. And I gave a 15% tip, the waiter was descent but very slow.So all in all I would probably go back, but next time be more aware of what is being charged.

Horrible service. Bad atmosphere. Super small. No ambiance. Decent sushi. Every interaction I had with out waiter was bc I waived him down. 30 min to get our beer, sushi came out with excruciatingly long wait periods, and 2 hours before we were all served.

Adam was great. Went for valentines. High quality fish. Some of the best edamame we've ever had (well seasoned). Will be back.

Pretty bad. Poor service. Rolls were sloppy. Barely any fish. Way over priced! Grabbed dinner after.

I really loved this location for a family outing. It is surrounded by other restaurants with a grassy area in the middle that plenty of kids were enjoying. The fish was very fresh. I wish there was little more flavor but overall a good experience. Check the happy hour menu in the pics!

Two of us enjoyed a lovely dinner - our first at Himari. Food was exceptional - extremely fresh with a unique presentation. The restaurant was clean and the service was on point. We ordered the $56 set to share, with the nigiri/sashimi being on the smaller side, and then a roll recommended by our server. Please note that Himari is not a mid-range sushi establishment, so budget accordingly. It reminded us of a sushi restaurant in Las Vegas - delicious, memorable, but more than we would want to spend on a standard night out -- unless we can arrive in time for Happy Hour (as of Feb 2024, HH is from open until 5pm every day). All in all, we'll definitely add it to our rotation, but it won't replace our usual sushi spots around town.

All the dishes we ordered were exceptional! We can't wait to go back and try their version of other traditional food. They make even the edamame taste better . It is located in a group of small restaurants with outdoor seating and open area. The trick is getting in. There is a gate where you can enter the area but it has no sign. We entered through another restaurant. It's worth the effort!

SO good! Everything we ordered was delicious & crave worthy! I cannot wait to go back. Photos attached highlights the items we ordered! Staff was so kind & efficient. Great ordering suggestions. Owner was making sushi and said he likes to make sushi approachable. 100% nailing it. Its also right in the stomping grounds with tables inside (upstairs & downstair efficiently using their space) clean nice stylish design esthetic + outside dining where your kid can enjoy a lil freedom to be a kid in the enclosed gated greenspace. You can also order from a computer inside the restaurant right by the window and eat at any of the picnic tables in the area too (or picnic it on the turf) so win-win for groups of diners who all want different food options or families with kids so everyone can eat what they like from the various restaurants).

Everything is fantastic, do not miss the extended Happy Hour, starts at opening and goes till the late afternoon. All the dishes have a clear flavor focus, and not your "everyday" regular sushi. The use of the robata grill on the mushroom and bacon bite, and the asparagus is just brilliant. Do mot miss the shaggy roll, or the "surf and turf" and DO NOT miss the crispy Tuna ?

Do not sleep on this restaurant if you're looking for some of the best sushi around! I've been to many great sushi spots throughout Houston, but definitely think this is one of the best! Compared to Ume in the Heights, Himari is so much better as far as quality.
