On a work trip to Houston, we had some down time, so my boyfriend and I went to Cidercade for a late lunch and something to do. What sold us on going there was the menu at Homies, as they were the featured food truck. The food was even better than we had imagined—the portions were quite generous, the food was delicious and the service was excellent. We ordered the Mac and cheese (meal not munchies) a breakfast taco, the chicken sandwich and peach mango space water. It was so good, I asked if they’d consider driving the truck up to Baltimore so I could eat the sandwich on a regular basis. You must track them down if you’re ever in Houston!

Okay - Fat Kid time. No joke, I ordered lunch today with little to moderate appetite. If you read my food reviews, you may note that lack of a voracious appetite is seldom an issue, but its cool outside & I'm just kind of 'blah' today. No biggie. I placed my order for 5th Ward (the main items are all named after Houston's Wards) which was fried chicken tender on top of Round pasta Mac & Cheese. I also got it "Throwed & Screwed" (Keeping it Houston 3 ways now - this time with Honey Sriracha, queso Blanco & a fried egg on top".) I'm here to say, this would make a mountain lion hug a jackrabbit. Holy Hell, it was amazing - like I am legitimately going to hunt for their home base. If criticism was required, I didn't tell them "easy onions" & by God, they believe in grilled onions. Food was served perfectly on time - and I was told of the ETA when I ordered, which was awesome compared to yesterday's food truck fiasco - it took 40+ minutes to get food I'd ordered using their app. Oh well - Homies made up for it! BTW - This almost special order was only $16 & some change; far superior in price to most trucks I've ordered from, and $2+ on mine was the tip. Apologies for latency in snappin' pics. It was a Beautiful boat before i dove into it. But, Check out the pics - PHENOMENAL!

My kids absolutely loved the Mac and cheese and after asking if they had anything grilled, they made me a spinach and coleslaw grilled chicken salad that was excellent. Customer service is top notch.Dietary restrictions: They will custom make any order.Kid-friendliness: Kids loved it, they will modify any menu item to make it kid friendly.

Found them on a Thursday, late October while at Greater Heights Brewery. Browsing the menu, noticed it's all mainly fried chicken items in various forms which are dubbed street eats for H-town. Sounds like it'll pair well with hand-crafted beer right?Trying to find something not to heavy but filling, I went with the Second Ward item which is loaded tator tots (black beans, fried chicken, sauteed onion/peppers, chopped sauce, cilantro). Also added a fried egg on top cause you gotta do it that way. The food was made in about 8 minutes and brought directly to me and my friend and we dug in. The egg definitely is a must-add with the yolk spreading all over the tots and adds a nice layer of texture to it. Tots were prepared alright and the beans plus onions/peppers give a good tex-mex taste to it. The fried chicken was alright, kinda dry. But seasoning was pretty good.Not a bad truck; maybe I should've tried the chicken sandwich or tacos like I read in the other reviews. If they're part of the brewery's rotation of trucks, I could munch here again.
Love the Houston themed menu and the add ons are so good! Coleslaw and tater tots were 10/10.
