Houston Sauce Pit (Food Truck)

This is a great place to eat. The food was delicious. The vegan meat was so tasty. A must to return.

The plate I ordered was listed at $17. The guy in the truck charged me $18. I tried to use my card, he said they were cash only. Paid with a $20 and was told they couldn't give me change. I planned on leaving a tip but was shocked to be told you are cash only but you don't have cash to give me change. Food quality has declined. Overall it was a disappointing experience.

I'm vegan on Fridays sometimes lol. This is definitely one of the go-to spots. The only thing better than the food is the customer service. Today I had the frito pie, homemade strawberry lemonade, and customer service that made me feel like family.

5th stop on our Big Back Houston Vegan food tour.

The location is in a very busy and congested area. But we did managed to find free street parking.

Unfortunately they didn’t have half the stuff listed on the menu. We went with the intention to try the smoked wings. No luck there.

So we ordered what they had.

BBQ Sandwich was good. The Bbq sauce had unique flavor. Sweet and savory.

The potato salad tasted okay, the texture was off. It was like mashed potatoes mixed with mayonnaise.

Baked beans were good.

The street corn was yummy! Mostly because of the sauce it’s topped with ?

Only complaint, one out of the two cobs was either over cooked or held too long, you can tell the quality of the corn had diminish.

Wasn’t nothing exciting about the Mac and cheese, it was severely lacking cheesiness.

Loved it loved it!!! With no real plan in mind we just needed to eat lol we had a little bit of everything between the 4 of us and passed it around like a buffet in the car cause the drive was too far to wait to eat. See you guys real soon

I was really excited to try but I would say it feels like this is designed to be drunk food. It wasn’t bad but it also wasn’t good enough that I think I’ll ever be back.

As someone who is vegetarian THANK YOU! I was so sad being in Texas thinking I can’t get BBQ but you all DELIVERED! The staff was so sweet and the food was SO SO GOOD!!! If we pass through Houston again you will definitely be seeing us!!

I'm not vegan so take this with a grain of salt if you are. I have a thing for textures and while the sauce was good the textures just weren't there for me. The brussel sprouts thought... I could just eat an entire quarter of them they were so damn delicious.

I didn't end up getting anything because of the service and unavailability of the item. Online, it said I could order the jack sandwich, but when I got there, I waited 10 minutes to be greeted then for her to tell that they don't have the sandwich. Never specified indefinitely or not. This was my first time here, and was excited to try. Now. I'm not even giving in a 2nd chance like I usual.

Parking: Parking is on the street or pay to park at Turkeyleg hut which is on the same premises as food truck

The link sandwich was so good I had to make sure that it was really vegan. The sausage tastes like real meat, and the barbecue sauce wasn’t too tangy and instead more on the sweet side, which made the sandwich very delicious.
