Well it is another version of Hokkaido but more space than the other one. Price is cheap, sashimi quality was so so, the combo itself was just almost $25 much cheaper than every other places that I go to. Sushi’s were ok. My family ordered a lot but it was just $82.

I had an amazing experience at I Wa Ya Japanese Restaurant, and Ahzee made it even more memorable! From the moment we walked in, Ahzee was incredibly welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind. The service was outstanding — always checking in at the right moments and making sure everything was perfect without ever feeling rushed. Ahzee’s positive attitude and excellent customer service truly stood out and made us feel valued as guests. The food was fantastic, but the exceptional hospitality is what will bring me back. Thank you, Ahzee, for making our dining experience such a great one. Highly recommend!

I was very disappointed with my experience. This is the second time I’ve encountered a similar situation at this same restaurant. The female owner took my plate before I finished eating and rushed to let others sit at my table. She was rude and questioned my phone, which made me feel disrespected as a single guest, while the waitstaff were very nice.

This is my favorite go to spot when I crave for quick and affordable Japanese food. Their never ending corn soup, miso soup, and red bean soup are community’s favorite. I have bumped into many friends here because they all love the food here too. Paying cash will receive 10% discount. I usually order their lunch special bento because it has the best value and variety. Very much recommended.

Went here and Oder the box lunches and the sushi for myself, everyone’s food came out except mine, after bringing it to there attention, staff was rude and unapologetic, my food finally came out after 40 min, everyone was done eating. I never received one apology, if your in a hurry don’t come here, great food horrible service!!

We like their Saba Entree ( broiled mackerel ). The fish was perfectly broiled and juicy. Miso soup and corn soup were good as well. This will be our new favorite in Houston !

Such an awful restaurant experience. Customer (a mom) wanted to come up to self serve soup area as I was waiting for it as well because the last person took all the soup in front of me. As I serve myself soup, she says a passive aggressive comment with her sons. They join in making passive aggressive comments while I’m getting soup. The staff does nothing while they’re being loudly rude and disrespectful (the restaurant is not big so everyone hears it all). The staff allowed them to act wild as they saying things such as “she actually said something back to mom?” suggesting this isn’t their first restaurant incident after I replied on how she doesn’t need to be that way. The restaurant staff genuinely just sat there and watched the situation as if it was entertaining to them.

My wife and I went there for dinner. I'd seen some reviews and videos about the place. It was around 8:30 pm, so we decided to have a late dinner. We ordered some crab stick, scallops, Iwa Ya roll, gyoza, and dragon roll. All for about $30. They have free iced tea, red bean dessert, and free soup. It was perfect for two people. If you haven't visited this place and you're in Chinatown in Houston, try it if you're in the mood for sushi.
