One of my favorite places for lunch or dinner. They are efficient with their service and the food is always delicious. Also can't go wrong with their complimentary self serve soups.

This place use to be really good. But something has changed. I ordered a Chirashi bowl and it was horrible. Basically they put all the leftover fish parts inside. The bowl was loaded with radish, super spicy tuna, mayo salmon and uncut salmon (please see photo). Usually when Japanese restaurants make something super spicy, it is to mask the foul taste of rotten fish. I understand things are getting more expensive due to inflation but don’t tell me they can’t even afford a knife sharpener!! The corn soup was loaded with black pepper with no corn. This might be the last time that I am coming back here….

Affordable and big portions. Service is fast too and they have a self serve area with red bean soup, corn soup, miso soup, and tea. Been here multiple times for lunch and dinner and the quality is always consistent and good.

Had lunch here on Chinese new year. Pretty busy. I ordered chirashi, grilled squid and beef stew. They are all very good. 2 soups are self service with hot and cold water. Even when it’s packed, the service was quick.

Iwa Ya on Bellaire Blvd hit the spot for lunch today! The atmosphere was inviting, and the service was quick and friendly. We dove into their delicious spider roll, savoring the fresh ingredients and perfect texture. The katsudon was another winner, with its crispy pork cutlet and flavorful sauce. Even the miso and corn chowder soup impressed, offering a warm and comforting start to the meal. And to top it off, the prices were reasonable! Highly recommend Iwa Ya for a satisfying and enjoyable lunch experience.

Delicious and reasonably priced, a good choice for dining with family and
I had my chirashi and I did not love it. Even though the bowl was fulfilled with variety sashimi and other stuff, unfortunately, it did not seem like fresh to me. The highlight of the restaurant was: very clean restroom, an open section for miso soup and hot tea, self-serve and prompt service. I am not sure if I would want to come back for food; my friend ordered something else and it did not look delicious either. Maybe I am picky eater? ?
