Decided to eat here because not everyone does their sushi or Japanese food the same. So I ordered the smoked salmon and I don't know if it was their soy sauce but when I took the first bite, it like exploded in my mouth. (That's a good thing) I had their soup and tasted pretty good. But I felt they were too busy talking to each other to notice I want some more sushi and ready to go. But on the fair side, I was the only one there.
My family has been coming here for years and years. The management has changed a few times, and as a result, I feel the service has gotten incredibly slow. The employees are still friendly and accommodating, but I cannot emphasize how slow and long it takes for your food to be served... regardless of the size of your party or order.
The sushi is delicious! I had the Houston Roll wrapped in soy paper instead of seaweed and it was amazing as well as fully stuffed with the freshest salmon and tuna. My fiance had the beef teriyaki and it was served with miso soup, fried rice, tempura veggies, a sizzling steak on top a bed of sautéed onions. The teriyaki sauce was served on the side, a nice touch. I highly recommend Kaneyama for sushi or teriyaki.
