Food was excellent! Love the fresh fish, rolls were delicious. Issues were the service. Our server was very nice and friendly but the flow was not good. When we received our menus, half of us had the updated menu and the other didn't so it threw off what we were ordering. Drinks took a while to arrive and we had to keep reminding if we could get this drink and that drink. Had to remind them for refills. When the dipping sauce plates came out, we had to wait before asking for soy sauce and wasabi. Food sometimes took a while to arrive but in the end it did come. We did order the ube soufflé which was divine but confused when we ordered it early knowing it'll take a while to cook, for the server to say, I'll put the order in now. Quality of the food was great but I think the service flow and efficiency could be improved.

Disappointed. We used to frequent KUU but haven't returned because of the declining quality. Today we decided to returned because the kids wanted sushi and they have availability. Quality is still not a par with price. Rice is very soggy. If they decide to use “real” crab leg for their California hand roll, let's use real crab leg and not chopped up in mayo, along with the already soggy rice. If you charge a 20% gratuity for party of 6, please be more attentive. Definitely will hold off KUU for a little while, again...

I went today for lunch and got the bento box. For the most part it was tasty, but unfortunately the tempura shrimp looked spoiled or uncooked. It was gray and a dark brown color. I did take a bite before I saw what it looked like underneath the tempura. I made mention of this to the waiter, but she didn't seem too concerned and didn't have a follow up response. I've gotten sick since then.

Room was a bit empty and cold, not giving a very cozy atmosphere. However the food was excellent.

I come here all the time and it never disappoints! The food is consistently incredible, but what really sets this place apart is the people. The manager Raymond always goes above and beyond to make sure every detail is perfect—he truly cares about the guests’ experience.

The bar is also a highlight! Vi is absolutely amazing—so precise with her drinks and you can taste the quality in every sip. I especially love the lycheetini; it’s always fresh, balanced, and perfectly consistent every single time. All staff from hostess to bartender is amazing.

It’s rare to find a restaurant where both the food and service are this dependable. Whether you’re coming in for a special meal or just want a great drink at the bar, this is the place to be. I ordered sous vide wagyu last time I dined in here!! So yummy. Happy hour is amazing

I love this place. My girlfriend and I truly love this place. We already know that everything here is going to be phenomenal. The rolls, the platters, a lot is fantastic. And Anthony is just an amazing server here. Even from the first time my girlfriend and I came here, he still remembered us the various times we've been here, greeted us, and even attended us when he had his own tables. What a great server and great restaurant. It's honestly a staple for us.

Excellent regular & happy hour menus and sushi chef & service team! Now one of our favorite "west side" sushi restaurants!

Here for work and found this place. Food was great!! Fast to come out. Lunch business bento box with the black cod is the best! So much food for $25. I also got the shoshito peppers which were good too. Slow to bring out check but other than that, service was impeccable.

Dear KUU,

My spouse and I have been loyal guests of KUU for the past five years, celebrating our anniversary with your Omakase menu. We’ve always appreciated the exceptional quality of your fish, the professionalism of your staff, and the thoughtful touches that made our visits memorable.

Unfortunately, during our last two visits, the experience did not meet the high standard we’ve come to expect. The service felt rushed, as if the staff were eager to close early, and I noticed details such as a dirty air intake near the open grill and cracked paint on the ceiling. These details may seem small, but they make a big difference to guests.

The greatest disappointment, however, was the way our anniversary dinner ended. The check was placed on our table immediately after the last dish, without being asked if we wanted dessert. In previous years, your team would present a small dessert plate to mark the occasion—a gesture that made us feel valued and celebrated. This time, that touch was missing, and it left us disheartened.

We want to share this feedback because we have always loved KUU and hope to see it return to the high level of hospitality and care we once experienced. Thank you for taking the time to read our comments.

Sincerely.

When I entered the restaurant, the receptionist was so absorbed in her cellphone that she didn't notice me for a minute until her colleague came and reminded her. It was a quiet afternoon and there were not a lot of people and the rest of the staff team was professional. I ordered oyagodon, a traditional Japanese dish that couldn't go wrong. And I was surprised. First of all, it's made of chicken katsu, which is a very uncommon choice. Secondly, the katsu were so badly overcooked and it was hard to chew and swallow. Everything was not right, from the recipe to the ingredients to the tastes.... I also tried the foie gras and sake toro. It was okay-mediocre, but at least way better than the first dish. Won't come back again...
