The queso fries would be best eaten as soon as you get them, otherwise they become an inedible glob. The cheeseburger was good, but the peach cobbler had way too much crust and not enough peaches.

Funky joint, 1st time there. Couldn't get any food. After waiting over 35 minutes, and watching food delivery to diners who sat down after us, we ask where our food was. No explanation, looked like arguing between the wait staff and the kitchen, we paid for drinks and left. Not a good experience.

The customer service was phenomenal. We sat outdoors and eventhough it was quite warm out the coverings and breeze kept it comfortable. Our drinks and food arrived very quickly and we were a large party of 14 with individual checks. I ordered the beef enchiladas with came with chips & salsa, beans and rice. What it didn't come with was seasoning and flavor. The salsa had almost no taste other than tomato. The chips simply tasted fried. The rice was slightly over cooked but not bad. The beans and enchiladas was extremely bland. I ate 1 of 3 enchiladas and brought the rest home to season up and eat later. I'm not a burger person and this place was chosen by a coworker. If you're ordering a burger be prepared to purchase fries separately. My students learned this the hard way. I did too when I paid for one of their orders. 🤣 So will I go back? No. However, I'm glad I tried it and will never trust any place on triple D.

Today, my boyfriend tried the Zen Brisket Lean (1 lb), and he couldn't stop raving about how tender and juicy it was. It was clear that the care put into preparing this burger made all the difference.
I must admit, I don't indulge in burgers very often, but when I do, it's always at Lankford's Grocery. Their consistent quality and delicious offerings make it a must-visit for anyone in the area. Highly recommend!

I've been coming here since 2008, and bring friends here when they visit. What a delight this place is. There isn't much left around here that brings people joy, but Lankford's sure does. Today was the first time I've ever been here before. A friend of mine recommended the place to me and so I had to try it out. Was told it was the BEST BURGER in Houston....Sadly it was not. I ordered the HOUSTON and it was a nice size burger and it was cooked well but I really wanted to try the brisket and took a piece out of it that was not covered in bbq sauce. The brisket had ZERO FLAVOR! If not for the bbq sauce I don't think I could have eaten it. I ordered the fries and I'm not a fan of salt but the fries had hardly any salt on them at all and I had to try and add some but salt doesn't stick very well unless you add it right after they are cooked. I don't think I will ever come back here as there are better choices in the downtown area.
