Pretty mediocre, honestly. The fried chicken was so bland I had to add salt from the packets, and it kinda tasted like old oil. The mac and cheese was again, bland, not even a savory taste from the cheeses. But oh man, the mashed potatoes were just awful. Devoid of any flavor and honestly probably the worst mashed potatoes I have ever tasted... I would gladly change my review if things are improved but this restaurant needs to go back to the drawing board and improve their dishes.

I treated my best friend here for her Birthday for Brunch and it was a fantastic choice! We opted to sit on the patio which was nice and breezy! To our surprise they had a 2 man band there playing live music and they were amazing, it set made for the perfect vibe! We ordered the brussle sprouts for app which were tasty and we both ordered the croissant french toast with wings. The entree did not disappoint, chicken was crispy full of flavor and the croissant french toast was divine! Definitely a great go to for Brunch!!

Relaxing quaint restaurant, where the pleasant smell hits you on the way in. You know it's going to be good. I ordered the Best Friend Cocktail and the Oxtails and Grits; I was not let down. So rich and fall off the bone goodness. I 10/10 recommend!

Went here on a Sunday it was extremely busy had to wait about an hour but it was worth the wait. Ended up sitting at the bar because it was faster and we didn’t want to wait anymore. The catfish was amazing, best catfish I’ve had all 2024. Also had the Mac and cheese and French toast. Everything was decent and made with love. Would definitely visit this location again when I’m back in Houston. Let me not forget about the staff hear. The hostesses were amazing as well as the bartenders.Parking: Parking was pretty back it was in a crowded residential area. Better off taking an Uber.

Food was real average except the mac and cheese! That was phenomenal! The bhm drinks were good as well!I was expecting a sweet piece of cornbread, but it was filled with red and green peppers and was savory. The grits had the consistency of instant grits and were lukewarm. My friend had potatoes that were cold. The fried chicken wasn't that seasoned. My catfish was good and freshly hot but also under seasoned.

First time here for Sunday brunch and final day of Black Restaurant Week. This restaurant is very busy, noisy, and they have some rules you are being warned about. It's best to book a reservation if you want a guaranteed table because walk-ins will wait 30+min. You have a 90 time limit starting when you are seated to order, eat, pay and leave the table so it can be turned over for the next reservation. There's a 20% grat fee for parties of 6 or more.My server was named Quincy who was okay, but, seemed to have too many tables to cover. My res was for 1230, seated at 1236 meal arrived by 100p, completed by 130p. All I ordered was an oxtail omelette, bacon, coffee, and a mimosa. My friend had the catfish and grits. No bacon served with meal, waited 20 min for that and the coffee was warm and bitter. The catfish grits meal was soaked in oxtail au jus sauce which made the grits taste awful and the crunchy filet soggy. My omelette was served swimming in au jus sauce but the oxtail meat were nicely seasoned and tender! Had to order a separate bowl of grits and the only good thing was the applewood bacon! It's a little overpriced for the basic "soul food" they offer, but I guess they gotta pay for the location. I've had better soul food at other Houston restaurants and mom/pop spots! It's alright if you want a quick meal but not a good place for a date night. The inside decor is nice and they have a really nice outdoor backyard to chill and listen to live music when featured. It was busy so I will give it another chance for lunch or dinner during the week. I say give it a try!Parking: No specific designated parking for the restaurant but valet is $10. It's in the museum district, so any street parking you find may require permits in certain residential areas surrounding the restaurant, metered pay parking, or the museum paid garages nearby. There are tow trucks circling around and will tow in flash if you park where it says not to.

This was my first time at Lucille’s. Its a bit tight inside, I probably would’ve sat outside and it sounded like they had live music…that’s nice. Valet was also quick and had good service overall. The service was good when we sat down; we got bottled water and cornbread to start. The bottled water is from Austin, TX & comes in a glass bottle; it was good. The cornbread….just wasn’t all that to me; a 6/10. And the reason why is because it was doughy; but it WAS cooked…that was just the texture.Anywho we ordered catfish and grits, and an egg white oxtail omelette. The catfish was ok, the grits were a little firm. Very standard dish. The oxtail omelette….it wasn’t nasty it was just…. different. Like the two don’t go together. And it came with a sauce…idk it just wasn’t….to my liking. So i sent it back and got the french toast which was standard, but good. A 7/10.Um…I WOULD come back but only if Im in the area and there arent many other options. I feel like this is a place you come to, you order what you know is doable, and you move on.a 6/10 overall. Average place.

We were trying to get info to reserve a table for Saturday brunch. No one will answer their phone, regardless of what time you try to call. We tried various times.Plenty of other options so we moved on.
