We’ve been to Makiin atleast 6 times in the last 6 months, and always had a great experience. But this last time, we were extremely disappointed. We are vegetarian and they refused to accommodate our needs. Dishes we have had in the past, they said were no longer vegetarian and had fish sauce. The staff and the manager were actually kind of rude. We left after drinks and didn’t even stay for dinner. Will not to going there again.

I can’t get ahold of them anymore to cancel a reservation !!

My partner took me here for birthday. Upon our arrival we did have a little trouble actually finding the place so we needed up calling and they gave us perfect instructions which led us right to the restaurant! We did place a reservation but around the time we went it was not very busy. But reservations are always encouraged so usually we try to make them. We put on the reservation that it was for my birthday so they gave us a really cute little letter board that said “happy birthday”. The place was very cute and had a calm ambiance. It was very quiet which I am not to used to. There was some background music which helped with that though. Our server was a polite young woman who was very attentive with our needs. Especially when we had questions or needed recommendations. The buzzer also was super quick when it came to empty plates and water refills. The appetizer was called Pangang Dumpling which were very crispy and yummy. For entree my partner got The Drunken Adventure and I got the Noodle Magic. Both portions were super big and scrumptious. I asked for some hot sauce because I love spice and our server promptly delivered a hot sauce flight! We also had noticed they served tea so I decided to get some of the yuzu green tea which was delivered with some honey! Since it was my birthday I got a complimentary ice cream which we split. It was a watermelon sorbet. 10/10 would eat here over and over again!

Drinks, appetizers, and main courses were amazing. The portion sizes were big and packed with protein, which I loved. The ambience is amazing - my only nitpick was the music is really loud and it was hard to hear people at the other end of the table. Didn't think this was enough to knock off a star, though.

Parking: There is a valet parking option, but there's also a free parking garage right next door, which is what I opted for.

Beautiful interior, sexy colors. Heavenly food and incredible service. In the heart of Houston. My new favorite!❤️

Parking: I did not do valet. Instead I parked in a free shopping mall parking lot across the street.

NOT COMING BACK. Over all disappointing visit and not worth the money. Great service, Horrible food (I would not ever order the dishes we ordered if I had to do it again) & horrible atmosphere (tight space, my left and right table is arm length away and I can hear every part of their conversation). Dinner for 2 however we ordered a lot to experience the different dishes. We ordered the Appetizer Symphony, Softshell crab papaya, Sizzling Northern Adventure & Golden Turmeric Deep Sea, coconut ice cream & mango sweet rice.
Golden Turmeric Deep Sea is a $68 plate - they give you very little dipping sauce. In the end, it tastes like deep fried fish with a yummy sauce. Pretty good but tastes more like a $35 plate.
Softshell crab papaya - This was a joke. Softshell crab was not fresh at all.
Sizzling Northern Adventure - Curry is great but there's nothing to eat with it. The short rib was super fatty and they only gave us 2 small bones. The noodle became super soggy because they poured super hot curry on it.
Appetizer Syphony - Khao Tang Na Tang = not so crispy and shrimp floss not so fresh.
Chives Cake Sunrise = sriracha sweet chili sauce pretty good and chive cake, no complaint here.
Thai-Kick Chicken = dry meat and all you can taste is the spice.
SUMMER Salad = tastes like fishy watermelon (not good)
Coconut ice cream was tasty but very small portion. Mango Sweet Rice - the rice was dry but I maybe a bit biased as we make this at home and it's a 100 times better.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting this Thai restaurant for afternoon tea, thanks to a friend from my Tea Group who chose it for her birthday celebration. From the moment we arrived, I was thoroughly impressed by the attention to detail.

The restaurant’s decor was stunning, with beautifully hand-painted tea sets and elegant dishware that added a touch of sophistication to our experience. Each component, from the stemware to the flatware, was thoughtfully curated, creating a delightful atmosphere perfect for a celebration.

The food itself was exquisite. We opted for the unlimited service, and the staff graciously kept the delicious offerings coming until we finally said we had enough. Every plate was artfully arranged, showcasing not only the flavors but also the care that went into presentation.

The ambience was enhanced by charming decorations, including a lovely light-up sign for my friend’s birthday, which added a personal touch to our celebration. The service was exemplary; the staff was attentive without being intrusive, ensuring that our experience was seamless and enjoyable.

A highlight of our visit was speaking with the owner, who expressed her heartfelt gratitude for our presence. It was clear she puts immense effort into the restaurant, and her passion for creating a welcoming environment truly shone through.

Overall, this restaurant is a hidden gem that brilliantly combines the art of afternoon tea with a Thai twist. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and memorable tea experience. We left feeling pampered and appreciated, and I can’t wait to return!
