The old Cafe is CLOSED. The only food available is in a separate building.
We always loved the food here but its all closed now. We always enjoyed a bottle of wine and a nice meal brought out to our table after viewing an art exhibit. Hope it reopens some day.
Well worth the stop in. Sandwiches on the fresh focaccia are phenomenal. Cant go wrong on the desserts either!
We had a lunch here today and came back again in the afternoon for a wine drink, because we enjoyed our lunch. The cafe provided a delicious carrot soup with 2 pieces of warm bread for the lunch. A bowl of soup had a big quantity and tasted very good. My husband liked his sandwich too.The afternoon antipasti was a big platter, too.
Probably the best restaurant in the museum district. Great food and great quality.
Y'all. The food here is exceptional. Not just for a museum but for a Houstonian restaurant. Really it is very good quality food. They have great coffee. If you are Italian, you can safely order an espresso here (ask for 1 shot though). I come here to eat and have a glass of wine even when I'm not visiting the museum exhibitions. Exceptional restaurant. I would take visitors to Houston here.
My husband and I ate brunch here before visiting the impressionism exhibit (Monet/Picasso) in December. I had a turkey, vegetable, avocado Pita, while he had an Asian shrimp and noodle salad. Great service, not fussy but good quality. Quiet.
This is a very nice place to take a break during your visit. We always seem to stop by for a bite after all the exhibit walking. The food is good and the service is quick and efficient Give it a try - kids love it!
Great food and selection. Great service by all. Fair prices. Special thank you for the Spanish speakers my Latin guests really felt welcomed.
Cortado and tea were good, but the tiramisu was so dry and the salad was soso.

After our Private Tour of the 'Impressionist Autumn' by our Guide, Eric Trimmreck, we ate Lunch at the MFA Cafe. This is an order at the counter type place and they will bring you out your food. Just like the Museum, this place is Very Artful and they do a Beautiful Presentation of Food no matter what you order. My Wife is having their 'Tomato Basil Soup' - not much to describe here because the name says it all --- Tomato Basil Soup. I am having the 'Cheeseburger' with added Bacon and Fried Egg on a Challah Bun, with Lettuce, Tomato & Onion. Served with Oven Roasted Fries. Not sure what everyone else ordered because there are 14 of us today for Lunch, plus Eric Trimmreck. David ordered something of 'Spinach Dip' and talk about a Beautiful Presentation of Food ... this one is it ... check out the picture. Shortly they brought out our food and the Server found our 'Number 70' standing tall ... because I'm Hungry. My Wife's Tomato Basil Soup looks really good and she said it was really good. My Cheeseburger with the Fried Egg & Bacon is also a Beautiful Presentation of Food. We are Very Impressed with MFA Cafe. This Burger was Delicious. Bacon and Egg added to any burger makes it a BetterBurger and this one was a BetterBurgerLiciousness. The Fries are Coated Crunchiness and a good amount served on the plate. For the Record, David loved his Spinach Dip and we like the Iron Pot it's served in ... Nice Touch MFA Cafe.
Had a little trouble noticing where the menu for food was but once we ordered we didn’t wait more than fifteen minutes for our sandwiches and they were very good and worth the price. The cafe is busy and lively and the employees get food out very fast. We were happy to have lunch here and conveniently continue into the museum to see the rest of the work. Next time we will try the desserts in the showcase.
I love the food and the drink selection. Nice atmosphere and helpful staff. My favorite is the MFA Burger. Great coffee, as well.
Really yummy vegan quinoa wrap! Already ate half in this picture.
I eat here pretty regularly as it is close by. The steak is great and they typically have many daily specials to keep things interesting. I also really enjoy the coffee program here. The place is always clean and they actually have a good happy hour. They are typically closed on Monday's, but so is the museum. Good Brunch on Sunday's here also if you are into that sort of thing.
