Came for the Kohiko x Money Cat pop-up. We ordered the menchi katsu sando, the wagyu sando, and the pandan french toast sando. The food was severely lacking in flavor. The bread tasted like it was just soaked in oil. It was very bland in flavoring. The pandan sando had no flavor at all. We ordered the brussel sprouts (an appetizer) the same time as the savory sandos and it came out long after we were almost finished with both sandos. Our server only checked up on us 2 times out of the entire meal. One of the times he checked up on us, he was walking away as i was talking to him. The only thing that was fast was getting our check.

We were celebrating our friend’s birthday, we wanted something special for her, one of our friends suggested we go here, this was my time ever going. Our waiter was attentive, professional and very polite. The food was excellent! I don’t even have the words to describe how much I loved it. The atmosphere was chill with a touch of a rustic feel, made me feel comfortable and relaxed the tables are spacious with plenty of room for all 4 of us.
Parking: I couldn’t find the garage but thank goodness for valet! The guys there are courteous and professional.

90% of what we went to try was not available. We ended up getting some random dishes just to try something. Service was meh food was decent not worth the$. Would like to say i would come back to try what we actually wanted but that would be a lie. Diner beware.

Fried mushroom was soggy. Adding steelhead trout roe on sweet butter was weird. Octopus was rubbery meaning it wasn’t cooked properly. The citrus flavored caramel sauce with the churro was burned and very bitter. All very basic mistakes.
Money Cat is my favorite new restaurant in Houston. The menu is creative, the food is aesthetically pleasing and exceptionally tasteful. Happy hour here really gives you a bang for your buck. And the service is always friendly and efficient. 10/10 I will always be back!!

Omg I’m in love. This is definitely in my top 3 sushi places now. I had the pandan-monium cocktail and that was so smooth and sweet. The honey vanilla milk buns I didn’t want to share because the butter and buns were so yummy together. The wagyu yakitori were amazing the flavor was so full and bold. The sushi was amazing too. Definitely will be back!

Out of multiple food items on their menu when we went. Even the soda was flat.

Money Cat used to be one of my favorite spots in Houston. Cost performance during social hour is good. However, it has declined in quality. I believe their head chef left a few months ago. The food and concepts were quite unique, and it used to be excellent. Sometimes it can still be decent, but quality is inconsistent. The nigiri are not always fresh, and the seasonings are inconsistent. Even the cooked food like the katsu sando varies. The last time I had it, the coleslaw overpowered the dish and made it soggy. I hope Mooney Cat can return to its prime, but I don't think I will be returning for some time.

We took full advantage of their social hour menu (which is available all day on Mondays). Service was kind and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. The highlights of our meal include maitake karaage, the salmon flight, tempura fried pickles, and the flying money cat roll. But don’t be afraid to just order the entire menu, like I nearly did ?

My fiancé and I have gone here a few times. The times we have gone with just us have been good. The food is unique and I like that the menu changes each season. BUT I went last night with my family and it honestly was one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a restaurant. The waiter (Jpop L) was the rudest person, it shocked me the way he was talking to me and my family. He had the biggest attitude and was rolling his eyes and sighing. We said something to him to try and clear the air. We really wanted to have a good evening with our family. He said “well I’m busy and there is nothing I can do.” It was also really hot in the restaurant and the food took forever to come out, half of the orders were wrong. It was a very frustrating evening and I really don’t think I can ever go back.
