Playa Azul Seafood and Oyster Bar

Came in with my family at around closing time. I ordered the Cabo Especial, and everything about that dish stood out to me. With some lime, the gumbo was amazing, and the fried seafood was SPECTACULAR. So hot and crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The fries were the same. Hot n crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I've eaten a lot of fried seafood in Houston, and this was the first time it was good enough for me to want to write a review. 👍👍 Amazing job!

I went for lunch on a weekday. I was able to sit down immediately and got my food within 10 minutes. I got the fried fish tacos, and they tasted great. Fish was crispy and seasoned well, and the side of rice had a nice flavor. Will be coming back to this place to try some more of their seafood.

They charged me $9 for a vodka cranberry, that's ridiculous.

Servers have amnesia once they turn they for get about everything , we nave to chase her to remind out orders.
They seem to be busy running around but waste so much time taking the same request from customer

If I could give 0 starts I would.
Firstly, the waitress was so rude and seemed super annoyed the entire time we were seated which okay whatever that’s her tip
Secondly, the food was subpar and advertised differently than what you really get. We ordered the $22 sampler and it stated that it came with two flautas, two nachos, and two quesadillas plus a piece of fish. They literally took the smallest pieces of those things and cut them in half so it wasn’t even truly two pieces of everything plus it was burnt. Also ordered the $14 shrimp ceviche and it was really just chopped pieces of shrimp with diced tomatoes and half a piece of avocado on top.

You also have to pay a 4% fee if you are paying with card which is just another cash grab from the owners because they are cheap and don’t want to pay their own fees even after overcharging for everything else that’s not even worth the money 👍🏼

Overall this place was just bad

Been a loyal customer for years even before the move from the grant and Jones location but they haven't missed a beat still the best seafood in town

Never have I ever had such a horrible experience at a restaurant honestly. Ordered the mojara frita and asked for fried garlic on top. I tasted it and sent it back, the fish was fried to a dry little crisp with no flavor, the garlic was raw, and the rice was disgusting. They still had the audacity to try to tell me it was a mojara that that’s what it’s supposed to be like. They took it back and apparently the owner received it and still decided to charge me for a fish I took one taste out of. And don’t get me started on how the chips and salsa here ARE NOT COMPLIMENTARY LMAO. Bless our waiter tho he was so sweet and understanding, it’s a shame his boss the owner thinks it’s okay to charge him my food. He was telling me he was going to pay for it himself. Do better, you should be ashamed of doing that to your own employees.

Food and service are good most of the times I've been there, however, I was very disappointed to discover that you get charged an extra 4% fee for paying with credit card. It's 2025 - most people aren't walking around with cash in their pockets. Not a fan of this at all. This should definitely be removed.
