Chef Kevin Garcia knows what he is doing! Everything was great. Steak melted in my mouth and the potatoes were so creamy!!

Interesting cocktails , good wine list and food well prepared. Between us we had steak et frites (generous portions), salmon wrapped in pastry shell , and duck breast in pastry . Gran Marnier Soufflé for desert was a nice finish . Our young Cuban waitress was very friendly and attentive. A nice night out !

This is our third trip to this wonderful neighborhood restaurant. The food is outstanding. Best French Onion soup in town. Also the beef tartare is the real thing. It is what you would expect to eat in Paris. Portions are very generous. Steak Frites excellent, Moules excellent, Duck Wellington so good. They actually have a "Floating Island" Dessert that is the real deal too. We plan to return very soon.

In case you were wondering whether PS-21 is a good place to dine, and what kind of food they specialize in, let me tell you...YES, and French...Real French. The "PS" in the name stands for Pierre Schmidt, the delightful, personable (and modest) chef and owner. My wife and I were celebrating and were on the prowl for authentic French cuisine. We have both had French food in France, and French native Chef Schmidt would make his countrymen proud. My wife's Crispy Salmon dish and my Seafood Bouillabaisse reminded us of how simple ingredients, expertly combined with the the right type and amount of heat make French food so magical. We both remarked how good the homemade bread (and butter!) were, and how rare it is to find good and simple bread that isn't sourdough, and sauces that are subtle and flavorful rather than over-salted and with an unnecessary kick. The desserts brought the meal to a delightful conclusion without being overpowering in their size or sweetness. Verdict? We'll be back!

A hidden French gem! My doctor friend recommended we try this restaurant as we are both foodies and love French food. The staff is lovely and attentive and service was top flight. We ordered cocktails and both were made as to our specific requests: Martini shaken hard and straight up and a French 75. Nice and refreshing. We tried 3 appetizers which are hard to beat at any top Houston restaurant - between the 2 of us we have covered all of the top 100 H-town restaurants every year. I digress. The escargot were sublime and I recommend everyone order this - we loved them served atop a perfectly cooked potato with the perfect ratio of garlic, parsley, and butter. The foie gras terrine was smooth and delightful and balanced with loquat jam. My friend got the duck tamales which were rich and quite filling. We were already full but both ordered the French onion soup which would make any onion proud. Simply delicious and piping hot which was nice on a chilly Houston night. The outside of restaurant is nondescript and sign just says name with a detached restaurant and bar sign. Don't let this deter you. Get in to this restaurant and you will be thankful. Merci for an outstanding meal. Happy doctors who are thankful for superb cooking.

Good, attentive service, but not great. Decent food for a French bistro but it’s not fine cuisine — and that’s ok as long as you know that going in. All the dishes we had were pretty good except the lobster bisque, which was so salty it was inedible, especially the fish cakes it came with. We told the waiter but he didn’t care enough to ask if we wanted something else — or comp it. Anyway, I’d give them another shot. The appetizers and the bouillabaisse are worth returning for. All the staff is very nice.

We have been several times to PS21 and have had a wonderful experience each time. The food is great and ambiance perfect for a date night or diner with friends foodies. We also got the pleasure to meet with the chef who kindly stopped by our table and asked for our feedback. As French, I really recommend you try it out! One of the few restaurants in Houston with an authentic French menu.

We heard about the Chef at PS-21 from the staff at BCN and gave it a try. As with BCN and its authentic Spanish dishes, PS-21's French quinine was and is a heavenly experience. They make their own gluten free bread, have an incredible cheese soufflé to start with, and their entrees like the Duck wellington and Redfish cooked to my wife's eating restrictions were from another planet. We go out to dinner every night and they are slotted as our go to for Thursday or Friday evenings, and for consideration for brunch after church on Sunday. The ambience and lighting of the dining rooms are intimate, yet the service is timely and seamless. I sure hope this review will get you to at least try this restaurant.

I was in for the Valentine's menu so I had to order a 3 course meal. First coming in I was given a single tiny piece of bread no basket of bread rolls for the table of 4 just one piece each. Ok not a big deal but a little stingy on bread was my first thought. Water is in tiny glasses and don't get refilled often. We were started with an appetizer of two dips with 6 potato chips to dip in the sauces for a table of 4. That's a chip and a half each, plenty of dip and nothing to dip in them not even bread because you get 1 piece it seems. So that was stupid. Next was my appetizer from my 3 course meal, I had the lobster bisque. It was super salty and needed something like bread and butter with it. After asking for bread it was about 5-10 mins until the guy came by and tried to give me one roll while looking at me like I was crazy for asking for it so I said give me 2 tiny bread rolls something by his face he had never heard or wasn't supposed to do. So the initial thought of stingy on simple bread was confirmed, on a meal that was 100 a person. Anyway the bread alone, since I felt asking for butter would have just been too much for them, wasn't enough to help it and I just stopped trying to eat it. Now back to the water in tiny glasses. After eating the saltiest soup ever you get thirsty. I sat there two different times during the 2 hour long meal for 10-20 mins with an empty glass, even drinking someone else's water at the table. About 20 mins after we finished the appetizer, the main course arrived. It was nicely laid out, 3 of us ordered the exact same thing, mine came out without the grilled vegetables, the other 2 had everything on them. Nothing was said they just sent out 3 of the exact same meals ran out of the vegetables so sent one of the three out without it. I felt so special. On the plate was a filet cooked perfectly with good mashed potatoes, a short rib which has a large sharp bone in it that it wasn't supposed to have in it, and the saddest excuse for beef Wellington I have ever seen. The beef Wellington was a large dinner roll with a tiny amount of beef and mushroom stuffed in at the bottom. I took a pic, not sure how to load it, but if I figure it out, you've got to see it, sad doesn't even begin to describe this dry bread roll with flavorless dry meat and mushroom stuffed in the bottom. Imagine a dinner roll, and someone pulled out a tiny bit of bread off the bottom and stuck half a teaspoon of meat and mushroom mixture in it and called it beef Wellington, that's exactly what they served me. So as we sat another 15 to 20 mins waiting for dessert again no water, dessert came, that's when I drank my friends water and by the time the guy came to fill up the water I had 2 completely empty glasses in front of me. I had the meringue, it was pure sugar and very unpleasant to eat, which is why I was so thirsty I had to drink someone else's water. So the good was the filet and mashed potatoes, the bad and sad was everything else. Since I can go to Kroger and get that filet for 5 dollars and make mashed potatoes for 2 dollars, I will say that wasn't even close to worth the 100 per person and the server didn't deserve the forced 20% gratuity, I assume that's why they didn't bother to fill up water. I won't go back.

We enjoyed a lovely French dinner in Houston here. The atmosphere was elegant but not stuffy. We were a little confused about the location of the entrance to the restaurant as it was not very obvious. We sampled many items on the menu because they sounded so good. We ate far more than we should have eaten and then ordered dessert. None of us have ever tried the Brandade of Codfish before this dinner and we were pleasantly surprised at the rustic combination of potatoes and cod. We also enjoyed the Sardine Rillette and the Tarte Flambe. The escargot were nestled on baby potatoes- delicious. One of us ordered Duck Breast Wellington and 2 in our group ordered the Steak Tartare Rossini as a main course. The duck was a treat - cooked just right and the puff pastry sealed in the flavor. One of us ordered the foie gras on top of the Tartare and it was perfectly seared and a nice addition to the Tartare. The mashed potatoes were silky, rich, and simply perfect We were satisfied and did not need anymore food and still we ordered the Floating Island and Creme Brulee Two Ways desserts. Both were great renditions of classics and with some added twists, too. Atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. We will be back.

Disappointing. Our service was fine but the ambiance was awful. The table next to use watched videos on their phone loudly and the servers never said a thing to them. Another table facetimed loudly with their phones. When we pointed that out, they did nothing about it and just turned up the music in the restaurant. Once they left, the music returned to normal volume. It was very strange. Our food was very hit or miss. The croque monsieur appetizer bites were good. The roast chicken was good but the cauliflower that came with it was barely cooked, it was essentially raw. My crispy salmon was so incredibly oily, not from the salmon but from how it was cooked (pan seared? deep fried?), but the ratatouille was very good. The bread pudding came out in a hot skillet, but the bread pudding itself was cold. Generally, we were disappointed in the food and would definitely not be back. I also wonder how long this place will be around. On a Saturday night, the place was never more than maybe 60% full.

Worst meal I have probably have ever had in a Houston dining experience. Food was inedible, ambience is quick patch up of what was there before, service was also poor. I never wrote reviews on here and tend to be kind to Houston restaurants but this place was so exceptionally bad they really need to rethink allot of things if they will survive Houston.

My husband and I were so excited to try this restaurant out and had high hopes. We were so disappointed with our experience. We entered the restaurant with no hostess, a staff member saw us and were seated but noticed we were given the lunch menu. It seemed very chaotic and unorganized. We order a bottle of wine and appetizer to start which was good and then after 40 mins our waiter took our dinner order. We weren't in a hurry and were enjoying the time we had so it wasn't a big deal to us. When we received our order, but mine was incorrect and was sent back three times before I decided to not return it. The waiter did not charge us for my order and bottle of wine which I thought was a good gesture. The waiter was very kind and tried his best to make things right but I was not going to continue to send it back. My husband and I ended up having to go to another restaurant to celebrate our “Valentine's Day”.

I'm unsure if the restaurant was short staffed, but we had pretty bad service. It took us 2 hours from the time we got there to get our meals and finish them, and not by our choice. Our server apologized several times, but by the end of the meal I just wanted to leave and didn't want to hear any more apologies. The food was good!

I can't speak on the food, but I will say I believe the restaurant isn't great and the service was pretty bad. Our server didn't even get our drink order and we were there for about 30-40 minutes waiting to order anything and ultimately decided it wasn't worth it and left before ordering food. The server was also not very nice and the overall vibe was very snooty and uptight.
