Food is fine but overhyped. I've had much better Borscht elsewhere.

I wanted to like this and came in ready to be impressed, but the value for money here is quite poor. Very small portions and high prices to pair with them. Very loud inside too. Waiter has friendly and helpful and service was quick, so I appreciated that. Just wouldn’t go back to pay $90 for a few tiny dishes.

I was hoping for so much more from Riel but my experience left a bad taste in my mouth. The service was very off, the dishes were not well paced at all (we got our apps right away and then waited 30 minutes for entrees) and the waitress barely checked in on us. When we told a server we were still waiting for our food he said he would check on it for us but never returned. We sat looking at the kitchen and saw what I think is one of the chefs with his palm on his chin looking grumpy. We could tell the kitchen definitely had an off night, unfortunately it was the night we dined there.

Came in on a week night for a chill dinner for two. Had the wagyu tartare, bannock, butter burgers, and hanger steak. Excellent service, vibes, drinks, and perfect portion sizes of distinct, memorable dishes. Can’t wait to come back!

It's safe to say that this restaurant is a new favorite for me! The service, the food & drinks, and the atmosphere were stellar! I was pleasantly greeted by Dante who was so kind, personable, and very accommodating. I sat at the bar for dinner and had the privilege of being served by the very talented bartender, Phong. He was so funny and couldn't make a drink wrong if he tried! He's a true craftsman when it comes to making drinks, and he does it so effortlessly! The food was AMAZING as well! Dante recommended the kimchi carbonara and he did not steer me wrong! I damn near wanted to lick the plate! LOL!! My only regret is that I hadn't tried this restaurant sooner. I'll most certainly be coming back!

Pros: Interesting, creative dishes with unique influences — Ukrainian, French Canadian, Cajun; cute neighborhood restaurant vibe

Cons: on our night — Slow, inattentive service (the chef and expediter looked less than thrilled to be there, no urgency from FOH staff or any apology or assurances for the very slow wait); for the price point, food was okay (not super expensive but not great value either)

The wagyu beef butter burgers were simply delicious, flavorful bites that were reasonably sized but still generous.
The medium-rare hanger steak was cooked to perfection.

Although both desserts were delicious, I think I preferred the sticky toffee pudding over the Nutella cheesecake. Because the sticky toffee pudding used banana nut bread for the cake, I believe I like it more.

I did like every single meal that was served here! 1000/10 would return. Already, I'm missing it.

We recently dined here and while 3 of dishes I ordered were good, honestly, the other 6 were disappointing. But the entire time was completely overshadowed by the experience we had with the general manager. Vanessa came and brought us one of our plates and before she turned away I started asking her a question and mid sentence she turned away and walked off. We’ve come many times and every single time she came to our table she has come across very unfriendly and abrupt to the point of being flat out ill-mannered and very dismissive. But this time it left us stunned. Totally unprofessional and unacceptable to have a general manager treat guests like this for no reason at all, let alone any reason. This lack of professionalism was shocking, especially coming from someone in a leadership role. Dining out should be an enjoyable experience. No one wants to deal with rude behavior, especially from the person who is supposed to be setting the example. If this is how management treats guests, as if they’re an inconvenience and a nuisance, I’m not sure myself or any of my friends would be back. What should have been a great night was ruined by a general manager who couldn’t be bothered to show basic courtesy and just treat someone with respect. I hope they address this issue so others don’t have a similar experience, but being the general manager, I’m sure this will go on deaf ears.

FANTASTIC: The "shared food items" was a new concept for our table - but worked out great. I appreciated the salads - we ordered two and they were very tasty. I did not order the butter sliders, but will the next time. The desserts, I thought, were over rated - just a lot of sugar. The little pocket mashed potatoes - outstanding. The vibe was fun and young. Everyone sharing and having a good time. We will be back!

Parking: No concerns.
