The food is amazing and it hits the spot when you’re in the mood for some good BBQ. I passed by to pickup a quick meal for my family that came over and we had a feast!

When I first visited Texas my uncle took me to a Rudy’s near San Antonio, I was vegetarian at the time and cried when I saw shirts that said “I didn’t climb the top of the food chain to eat salad” I fought with my family and stopped talking to my uncle. Now I love to eat meat and Rudy’s is prob my favorite bbq place I have experienced, prob more than smithy’s or those mid central places but it’s a true treat either way and I hope to get some hot sauce at some time!

I went to Rudy’s barbecue two days ago. I mentioned it to my Client and they raved about the cream corn and the service, I stopped by on my way home from work as I passed Rudy’s every day the young lady at the register was very short as far as interactions go not pleasant at all, I got 1/2 pound of brisket moist I got a brisket, sandwich, cream corn, and they order of potato salad, I was highly disappointed, but the young lady service was rude as hell! She got my brisket the half pound that is held it above the register and let it slap on the little weight in front of the register that tells you how many pounds I was disgusted and looked at the woman next to me, staring at the young lady as well I noted that it could’ve been very ugly very quickly as I was tired and already there I just stared at her for a good minute, not saying anything and she begrudgingly said sorry as she knew what she was doing. Start to finish the awkwardness of the stair and me waiting on some type of, something to let me know that you understand I am a customer paying customer that that my phone literally died so I said please back up my stuff and sit aside. I’ll be back in. Let me charge it because I’m paying via tap, I explained I only need to plug it in for about two minutes and I’ll be back in. She said that was perfectly fine and I went to charge my phone as soon as the Apple sign came on back to pay And I did that normally my phone holds 10%, which is more than enough time for a quick transaction. I paid darn near $40 for some dry brisket some corn and what tasted like mayonnaise, which was disgusting. The corn taste old and was Hard to chew the bread on the brisket sandwich had a aftertaste as if the bread was stored somewhere and was saturated with the taste of whatever it was in quite honestly, everything was a bust even the potato salad which did not have much flavor to it. I am not being mean I am just stating facts significant other everything and we ended up having to go and get something else for dinner. It was disgusting. Never try anything else from this establishment I think that her treatment and handling of my food maybe because I am African-American, but very well spoken if I do say so myself, I came in excited and I almost did my review for social media at that point they should be very glad that I did not ‼️ i’ve never had my food hand in my face to the point that other customers, both black and white look to the right to see my food on the weight that way, and stared for a moment because when I look to my left, did anybody else here or see that, we met eyes. I think that was a precursor and my phone shutting off at the precise time that I started to tap and pay. I feel in hindsight was trying to let me know this was not the right move! I will say this, the environment look welcoming most of the cashiers were leaning on the register, but I did get a greeting on the way out of the door by the cashier next to the door, as far as the young lady with the long ponytail and I think of Mexican or some sort of Latino descent, I don’t know what was going on with her day, but I’ve worked food service in the past and we all know it’s showtime when the customer come in you sure as hell do not slam or drop their food on the scale so much so that it makes a loud slapping noise where some of the meat actually touch the scale and after the stare down she goes I’m sorry it’s all on there. It’s a half pound… She should be very lucky that I was tired and ready to go home one out of 10 a big one and that’s generous for service as well as food. We were there for the brisket and it taste horrible as it was laid in the ashes which is shocking because I watched them slice fresh brisket, but I got old cold and dried out brisket even though we asked for moist salt barbecue sauce could help, especially since we only got two small packaged containers that were smaller than Domino’s Pizza ranch dipping sauces. This was a waste of my heart earned money and I usually give these places a second try but I will never set foot in Rudy’s BBQ Ever again‼️

The quality used to be better. The last couple of visits, the brisket was mostly fat I ordered lean. Unfortunately, this isn't exclusive to this location as I've had this problem at other locations. The brisket used to be much better.

Subpar for a Rudy's. Out of prime rib. Brisket dry and tasted like gas. Turkey was cold. Even pickles and tea tasted off. Staff was awesome and always as experienced as Rudy's. Heavy security presence assured safety but gave unsafe vibes. First time at this spot in the evening. Very vacant building. Stark contrast to their lunch run.

This is not going to be everybody's cup of tea when it comes to buying barbecue. With a few exceptions such as sandwiches and baked potatoes, they don't sell dinner dishes. Rather it's by the quarter pound and the sides by the 6 ounces or pints, or quarts. Now I will have to say I'm probably biased since I've been eating at Rudy's for more than 40 years, long before they ever made it to this neck of the woods and I was very happy when they built this one. So convenient in the area. You are given the option of ordering your meat. Lean with most of the fat cut off moist with some of the fat still on it and butchers cut leaving it up to the cutter as to what you get which is usually what he/she happens to have in front of them. While not listed on the menu, you can also order extra moist and if the cutter is familiar with it, they will actually not trim the meat as much and you'll get the Smokey crust, fat and meat. The barbecue sauce is available as sissy sauce which has a milder kick than their original which has a lot more cayenne and pepper. It is a thinner sauce, more like the consistency of French dressing, less like ketchup. So not a thick tomato and sugar based BBQ sauce. Me I like the spices they use as a rub so I do buy the extra moist to get more of the crust and cut away the fat I don't want.
Parking: I will tell you that if you feel adventurous you can if you were traveling on North point, turn in behind McDonald's and cut through the parking lots all the way over to Rudy's this didn't used to be an option, but it is now.

Rudy's is good. Prefer higher quality bbq, but when factoring in price, quality, and easy, they are great.
