I'm leaving a one star because the owner to the comments I'm pending didn't take any ownership (otherwise I'd leave two or three). Look times are tough and if your taking shortcuts I get it. However my experience here was similar in that my food didn't feel authentic (I lived in japan for two years). I was trying so hard to love it and it wasn't awful but I was so excited to have real chicken katsu and show my husband and even he said this is frozen (idk if it is) but it's not what I remembered. To be fair there may be some legitimate stuff on their menu and one way I can tell if a place is legit besides any katsu is their yakitori which is not cooked on charcoal and their parking lot IS VERY DARK!!! My husband and I almost didn't go bc it's in a sketchy area and yes obviously a very dark parking lot!. I never planned to leave a review like this bc I'm disappointed by Japanese places in America often but the blatant lie from the owner was not ok and needs to be corrected!! I had indeed considered coming back just to try something else bc I don't like giving places just one chance (and maybe I'll like something else better?!) but now I will not be until the owner owns that their parking lot is indeed and CLEARLY VERY DARK! Ugh I can't stand inauthentic people and you did this to yourself.

I’ve been coming here since my college days, and it still has that same cozy, welcoming vibe.
The Katsu Don and Curry Udon are incredibly satisfying, and the Futomaki, Anago Sushi, and Grilled Squid are always spot on. It’s one of those reliable spots that never misses.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the omakase tasting menu ($140pp) as our anniversary dinner and we will certainly be back. For one split second I was worried that we made a mistake booking our anniversary dinner at such an unpretentious, hole-in-the-wall restaurant instead of one of the fancier big names in the Galleria, but that feeling went away quickly after we were seated. Our server started us off with a free bottle of hot sake to celebrate our anniversary, then the omakase began. The sushi chef is knowledgeable and makes very good, creative, and fresh sushi. It wasn't a particularly busy night, so he was able to talk to us and answer our questions about the dishes as he served them to us directly over the counter. The sushi itself was delicious and I even had some cuts I've never had before like flounder fin (incredible) and surf clam (fantastic). Overall, this was a 10/10 experience, and Sasaki will be on our night-out rotation moving forward!

Sasaki serves authentic Japanese food, with great atmosphere and welcoming staff. We ordered the soup Udon and the sashimi combo, among other things, and everything was delicious.

Absolutely delicious ramen at Sasaki! The broth was rich and flavorful, and the soft-boiled eggs were cooked to perfection with the ideal jammy yolk. Highly recommend!

I liked it. Delicious Udon. Good Tempura. Sushi was fresh and rice not sour. Curry Katsu was mid: curry sauce had strong flavor and the pork katsu too dry.
But overall good lunch!

We wish we had known about Sasaki sooner! It’s a hole-in-the-wall kind of place, but the service and the food were amazing. I told Chef Andy that it was our first time and that my husband isn’t a big fan of raw fish, but I love salmon. Later, he gave us salmon sushi on the house. How sweet is that! The server, I believe her name was Shu, was also very sweet and attentive. I wholeheartedly recommend this sushi restaurant to everyone.

The omakase dinner was amazing! I started feeling full towards the end so the chef cut back on the rice and was checking in with how I was feeling. Every course was delicious and prepared with care. The service was great from the staff too. This restaurant is located in a strip mall, but the quality is top tier. I would definitely return.
