Living nearby Slowpokes is a huge reason why my wife and I moved to the apartments we now live in. This coffee shop is one of the best in the city. The vibes are consistently relaxed and friendly, the service is always personable and kind, the coffee is always great. The shop strikes a great balance between aesthetic and cozy hipster interior. Slowpokes is truly the place to be.

I have especially appreciated the friendly conversation I’ve gotten to have with several of the baristas especially Glory and Darrian. They work hard and yet make time to chat with anyone. I always feel right at home at Slowpokes.

The girl taking my order was more interested in talking and catching up with a friend than taking our order. Ordered the ube latte. Flavor was non existent. Would not recommend for a coffee fix.

One year after the below incident, I decide to place an order thru Uber for pick up. I arrive 15 minutes later in hopes to just walk in and grab my order (after navigating the awful lack of parking outside) only to find that the order hasn’t been prepared. I might as well have just waited in line to place the order because order ahead does not save any time. From a previous reply from manager they “don’t like to make coffee ahead so it’s fresh” Totally negates the idea of ordering ahead to save time. All good there are plenty of other coffee shops in Houston. Also staff lives up to the name Slowpokes as all four staff I saw were as slow as a snail in their service.

Response to store’s reply: refund has been processed through Uber. This review will remain as is on this platform due to your lack of concern that I did not receive my full order. I have picked up to go orders at this location and the items are kept behind the counter. Is it possible the driver left the item? Sure. But the higher probability is the coffee was not handed to the driver, so he was not aware it was part of the order. Would one of your employees allow a customer to walk away without their items? I would have driven to the location myself to pick it up, however no one answered the phone. Your lack of concern is very off putting and I will think twice before purchasing anything from your location again.

We do not control drivers forgetting their items to deliver.

Did not receive my latte this morning from my Uber eats order. Driver said it was not given to him. I’ve tried calling the store multiple times to have refund processed but no one answers the phone

Way too expensive. Matcha taste tasteless. $12 for a cup is extreme. Not to mention you have to give tips. $12 could have gone to grocery money.

Comparison, Kohiko in Sugarland cost $8. Starbucks cost $6.

I’ll only buy $5 worth of things here just to validate the $5 parking.

I’m hoping this doesn’t fall in deaf ears, as of recently I’m not sure if it’s staff changes or what but if your service has been extraordinarily slow. Placed an order on the app 35 minutes prior and I thought I was gonna be late picking it up 25 minutes into placing the order and it still took them an additional 10 minutes. For a shaken espresso with cold foam. I also visibly watched them run out of what they needed to make the cold foam so they use whipped cream instead. I paid extra for this and I tipped. Won’t be back and I was in a regular. The girl making my order was a thin girl with a bob

I stopped in for the first time yesterday. I was able to park right outside the door. The service was quick and polite. The coffee was amazing! The roast was smooth and didn’t have any acid like taste. Highly recommend!

Coffee was fine, very unfriendly staff- was greeted with an “oh god” upon walking up to the counter and treated very coldly by the attending staff- drove over 30 min to have some coffee and relax ended up disappointed. Its worse when you see they treat the next customer differently. Will not be coming again

This is the worst matcha latte I’ve ever had, and the service was terrible too. Don’t go. Don’t even bother trying it.
