Reasonably good for the price. Chicken Tikka taco was a novel experience, but had too much rice and not enough crunch that a taco needs. The birria had good flavor but didn't stay together very well. Overall would visit again, but not go out of my way.

Food is always good and the staff is friendly. The restaurant is always really clean which is a plus! Our favorite tacos are the beer battered cauliflower and the grilled steak ones. Definitely recommend this place if you want a unique taco experience. The sides are really tasty too!

Don’t bother with the drive thru, even when it’s empty! You have to order at the window, but there’s never anybody working that window and then there is no way for them to know you are there. I even politely knocked on the window but nobody came, so I just left and spent my money elsewhere. Last time I attempted the drive thru I got noticed about 5 minutes after I pulled up. I waited almost 10 minutes today and then peace’d out. Such a shame, and it would be a super easy fix if they just put up a $10 wireless doorbell from Amazon! They could even go old school and get one of those mechanic bells that dings when you drive over it.
Delicious but we prefer the Westheimer location for ambiance.

This Velvet Taco location quickly became our favorite neighborhood date night spot. The foods always tasty. The staff do a killer job. The vibes are always good (that playlist is forever a good vibe). I have to give a special shout out to the manager Joe, who takes such pride in his location that we honestly assumed he was a franchise owner. As a former restaurant manager and district manager I am so very impressed by him and the pride he takes in this location. Kudos to Joe and the rest of Heights staff! ❤️
I love velvet taco. I’ve been to several of their locations. This one is the closest to where I live, however I won’t be visiting this location ever again.
The guy with longer hair, who wears a beanie and has tattoos working the front of house, needs to take a course on working in customer service. I have never met someone working in the food industry who makes the customer feel like they are an inconvenience to the employee. It’s wild. I thought it was just a one time thing and he was having a bad day so we gave him the benefit of the doubt the first time a few weeks ago, but it was the same thing again tonight.
Don’t come to this location if it’s within an hour of closing. And don’t ask for Tajín or anything on the rim because he’s cleaned the rimmed already but if you insist he’ll blacklist you for as long as he works the night shifts at a basic taco joint. I suggest he finds another career path where his pervasive negativeness will not affect those around him, especially paying customers.
I, as most people do, only write reviews when it’s either really amazing or really terrible. Normally it’s the former, as it takes a lot for me to take time out of my day to write a poor one. I am also a very polite and reasonable customer. My hope is that management will see this and do something about it.
