I am so glad that I found Yen Huong Bakery. I could buy freshly baked moon cakes. Where I used to wait for mid autumn festival to buy imported cakes. I love to shop locals.

Yen Huong Bakery 燕香餅家 has been on my bookmark since covid pandemic. I found it during the Mid Autumn Festival at Viet Hoa Supermarket in SW Chinatown. I bought a box of moon cakes and noticing the address. I finally came to the actual bakery in EaDo area near the former Chinatown from the 80's. I got here around 5, but the door was closed. By standing at the parking lot, I smelled the aroma of the sweet baking. I said to myself I've gotta get something. I hate to go home empty handed. I walked to the delivery entrance on Dallas Street and asked someone who was walking out (I think he was a distributor.) He said they were still open. I felt awkward to walk from the back door. The employees were very friendly. I guess customers come through the kitchen often. They didn't say anything except directed me to go to the front. I talked to a lady who spoke little Mandarin but fluent in Cantonese and Vietnamese. She helped me with the freshly baked moon cakes before she took a sales call. Then, a young lady took the order. I bought one of each from the bakery racks. Total $10 for 3 moon cakes. Yeah. I'll pay more if they asked for it. I never had freshly baked moon cakes before. I always buy them at supermarkets that were made overseas. The aroma filled my car. When I got home, I started to indulge them. Mmm... tasted so amazing. Yeah. Buy locally made food, y'all.

Worst moon cakes ever! Burn sports make them bitter, with a powdery cake layer, bland filling of either mungbean or mixed nuts. The only edible thing is salted egg york.

Bought mooncake at Oriental Market in Columbia SC while traveling. $29 a box of heavy mold covered cakes. No expiration date. Needs quality control.

Disappointed that Yen Huong Bakery is closed.I live in Wichita,KS, would like to find a similar Hopia. I tried another brand but it was not good. Tasted like onion in the bean filling which did not go with the sweet shell.

I'm in California, came to visit my sister in Houston, Tx . I came to Thanh Binh market, bought 6 of Moon Cake. When opening this one, it got black mold!!! I tried to call but no one answered!!! I called Thanh Bình Market, the lady answered without responsibilities!!!I don't know how can they sale their products in the future...If anyone can recommend me, what should I do???

My wife and I stopped by their retail counter at the factory and bought a bunch of bakery products. All were super fresh and delicious. Very reasonably priced. I've always sought out this brand at the grocers. Really friendly service. The family owned business is legendary in Houston, and hope it will continue to thrive.

Their bakery are very authentic and delicious. Freshest from their Houston downtown factory.

Taste old and one of the moon cake has mold on it.

Mung bean moon cake needed more sugar. Not necessarily bland but not decadent enough. Flavor was underwhelming. Chinatown has better and sweeter moon cakes. However this mooncake could be the healthiest because of the lack of intense sweetness or sugar rush. One of the mooncakes had an air pocket and it fell apart. The outside skin layer tends to flake off in large pieces and makes a mess while eating the moon cake. Do get the cakes directly from the bakery for ideal freshness. Might get the lotus but i am wary of the lack of super sweet flavor and the high prices. Staff are nice but are very busy.

Love their moon cake.

Ridiculous! There is too much sesame seeds on their Chinese New Year sweet rice cake. The amount is plentiful enough to put on top of like 20 rice cakes. You only really to sprinkle a handful on top of the sweet rice cake to give it that fragrance smell. But no, there is an inch layered of sesame seeds on there, enough to fill a whole army. Too oily as well. Will never buy again.

I brought their moon cake from my local Asian market, it cost $25.96 for 4 cakes. After I paid for the cakes I saw some sign of breakout, so I asked the cashier if I can go pick a better one. However, the better one I got when I cut them in haft the whole bottom of the cake batter falling off, then the rest. Literally the outside batter is not attach with the filling. I am so disappointed

So every year close to the Mid-Autumn Festival, my family has a tradition of buying mooncakes and what not. There's only two bakeries we would go and this is one of them. We would be them directly from the bakeries rather than the Asian stores. My mom would bought a handful of them to give out to our family members. I definitely enjoy eating the mung bean w/ 1 egg (#1), durian w/ 1 egg (#4) and taro w/ 1 egg (#7). But my parents likes the thap cam ones (#5 & #10). Please be aware that it's a cash only place.
