Calais makes the best red wine in Texas - period. It matches up with the elites of Napa and France. As a Texan I am proud of that - not easy to do! The facility is not fancy or pretty. It will not wow you. But if you are a connoisseur of SUPERB red wine, you must visit this unpretentious place with enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff. My husband & I have tasted wines from many countries and many States— we have been to the Hill Country quite a few times. We started going when William Chris touted their awards. We visited Calais Winery on Sunday for the first time and found the wines to be outstanding.
