We used to come here regularly when we lived in Katy but we moved out of town. Recently, my co-workers have brought me back here and I quickly remembered why we loved this place. The food is consistently very tasty and served quickly. The staff is also very friendly and extremely attentive. My go-to dish is General Tso’s chicken but the Mala Chicken and Hunan Chicken are great as well. While other restaurants raise their prices all the time, this place stay very affordable.

This place has gone downhill tremendously, unfortunately. Last time we went, there were fruit flies EVERYWHERE flying around and dead fruit flies in the sauce they brought for the spring rolls. I called it to their attention and asked for another sauce. They brought a new one. I took off the lid and more flies. As I looked around I noticed fly strips all over the walls. With hundreds of fruit flies on it.Never again.

For over two decades, this restaurant was our favorite Chinese restaurant. Regrettably, our last two visits were disappointing due to poor food and a deteriorating atmosphere, including unpleasant odors and apparent use of part of the dining area as storage and a family lounge. Sadly, the Panda Express across the street is a more appealing alternative.We won’t be back.

I have been going to China Cottage since around 2013 and they make THE BEST GENERAL TSO’S IN THE U.S. Trust. Go see for yourself. I love everything, though. Delicious spring rolls and hot & sour soup are always a must with my default order. Love to bring others so I can eat other dishes off their plates, too lolI have lived in Houston for 40 years (minus 5 we won’t talk about), I have been to NYC more than once, and American Chinese food is my favorite food. I ordered through GrubHub. The wonton soup was decent. The egg rolls were edible but extremely small. The Cottage Chicken (aka.. Orange Chicken) had an extremely thick coating of flour. It states that it has a thin coating of breading but it was thick and extremely powdery. I wasted money on this meal. I'm not happy whatever. Disgusting!

Extremely Displeased with China Cottage - A Warning to OthersI recently had an incredibly frustrating experience with China Cottage that compelled me to share my dissatisfaction. We ordered through UberEats, and within minutes of completing payment, we received a notification stating that the restaurant adjusted the price from $33.00 to $50.00 without any explanation.In response, we promptly canceled the order through the app, only to discover that we were still being charged because the restaurant claimed to have started preparing the food. Not only were we charged a whopping $17.00 more than expected, but we also didn't receive any food. To make matters worse, the restaurant failed to include any note explaining the sudden price increase.Attempts to contact the restaurant have been made, with them providing excuses like "the manager isn't here during close" and conflicting information about when the manager is available. It's incredibly disappointing that they didn't take the initiative to reach out and discuss the unexpected charge, leaving us frustrated and without resolution - and still being charged for food.This experience has left me questioning the integrity and customer service of China Cottage.
