Our experience at Com Tam Saigon was average at best. While the menu was quite extensive, nothing in particular made us want to return for another visit.

Service - what you would normally expect from a Vietnamese restaurant. Brief, accurate, but not overly friendly.

Atmosphere - nothing mind blowing, everything seemed to be clean

Food - we were able to sample three of the items below:

Com Tam Saigon Dac Biet 2 - this was one of the restaurant's signature dish with Vietnamese broken rice. The presentation was 10/10! Plate was beautifully presented. Taste-wise, just average. Nothing stood out as amazing.

Banh Uot Cha Lua Nem Chu - rice sheet served with fish sauce, pork bologna, and fermented pork sausage. Decent tasting, fish sauce was a bit bland. Restaurant was also skimping on the meat.

Goi Ngo Sen Tom Thi - lotus root salad with shrimp and beef. Good portion size and presented well on the plate. The vinaigrette was unfortunately lacking in flavor which brought down the entire dish.

Overall, not the worst Vietnamese restaurant we've been to. There's a lot of better Viet restaurants here in the Katy area though. Given our average experience, we probably won't be coming back.

This used to be the place to go to when they first opened for my wife and I.
Then they closed shop for a month for “renovations” then they came back with all new people who claimed they were part of the same family.
Their pork chop and Korean bbq sauce marinade are exactly the same. Sometimes they forget to season the pork chops.
Sometimes their egg cake and other garnishes aren’t fresh. It’s not the same anymore. We haven’t been back in half a year since.

I used to be a regular at Cơm Tấm Saigon. The food was always just okay—mediocre at best—but it was close by and convenient. What ultimately made me stop coming wasn’t the food, but the owner’s blatant greed.

One day, I asked for extra fish sauce (nước mắm) and was shocked to see a $6 charge on my bill. SIX dollars—for fish sauce. It wasn’t even a large portion. Just a little plastic cup of something that typically comes free or at a minimal cost in any Vietnamese restaurant. When I asked about it, the owner acted like it was completely normal. Sorry, but that’s a rip-off.

That moment told me everything I needed to know. They’re not about hospitality or building customer loyalty—they’re about squeezing every penny they can, even from long-time customers.

I haven’t been back since, and I don’t plan to. Plenty of other Vietnamese spots in Houston serve better food and don’t nickel-and-dime their customers over condiments.

I really enjoyed their banh beo but felt like the com tam was just okay. I ordered the com tam suon heo dac biet - the pork chop seemed a little dry. Restaurant looked clean and bright / service was okay. They tended to us when needed but the workers just seemed a bit sad or unhappy 🥹

After two different pho places in Katy Asian town turned me down due to the having a cardiac/Seizure alert dog, I was super thankful I was allowed to eat here.

The portions here were bigger than we expected and the food was ready quickly. The service was quick and friendly.

I definitely recommend the shrimp vermicelli and the pork egg rolls 😋

We love this place. The banh xeo is massive with tons of vegetables on the side. Com tam is on point, with lots of nuoc mam on the side. Nem nuong is everything you would want, crunchy and savory, yet light.

Old school Vietnamese restaurant, they have the best spring rolls.

Really good, solid and traditional southern Vietnamese food.

***DON’T believe half of these AI-written reviews. They make no sense! No one talks like that or consumes Vietnamese food that way***

I got the banh hoi and it was perfectly how it should be. Flavorful grilled pork, soft banh hoi noodles and plenty of greens and pickled veggies to make wraps and dip in nuoc mam chua. Com tam was really good too and came with egg cake and shredded pork. All tasted as I could remember having it on Bellaire growing up. These people are serving up growing-up-Vietnamese-American-in-Houston nostalgia realness. Get some and ignore these silly reviews <4 star reviews.

We came to Houston for the day and when I come I like to eat vn food in Houston. We stopped in Katy Asian town and tried con tam Saigon for the first time. Although we did not order com tam I did order the egg rolls and the banh xeo. The egg rolls were typical nothing special but it bit the spot. The banh xeo was huge and was crunchy the whole time, it did. It get soft even when it cooled down and it came with a generous amount of fresh greens and the nuoc mam was on point. My bf ordered the bun Bo buying which had a good marinade and a hint of lemon grass which made it taste good but the meat was a tad dry but otherwise it was pretty good.

Based on our first time visiting, everything was delicious. I can’t believe some dishes they had, most of other viet spots didn’t have and if they did…it wasn’t good.

1. Banh zero was good but needs more meat in my opinion
2. Chao Tom spring rolls, OMG Soo good, their sauce with it was very good!
3. Banh Uot dac biet was really good as well.
4. thit Kho And ca Kho was really good as well, just how I would make it at home.

I would definitely go back!

Found a medium sized roach cooked and buried in my rice!!! It was the most disgusting thing and they had the nerve to charge me for the food after bringing me a new plate. I had lost my appetite and only ate 1/4 of it too!! Do not eat here! They definitely have a roach problem!
