We sat at the bar tonight. Our drinks were good and the bartender was nice and informative. My husband had Cadillac margaritas and I had jalepeno Cucumber margaritas. We ordered the queso and Carne Asada enchiladas on corn tortilla. Our plate came out and the food was not warm. We are not one to complain but we honestly couldn't eat it. She apologized and brought us another plate. Honestly it wasn't much warmer but we didn't want to send it back. We ate some of it. We did let her know and she said she would let kitchen know. They were not busy at all. There was only 1 other couple there when we got there and walked in with another couple. They gradually got about 6-8 more sets of people. I was really looking forward to a new restaurant in our area but they need to improve on the food to return.

We went for dinner and had an overall good experience. Our waitress was sweet and recommended several items on the menu. Menu is simple. Barbacoa was good as well as prickly pear marg. The shrimp tacos were a little different and the beans and rice needed a little more flavor. I would go back again. Chips and salsa were great.

We went a month ago and I didnt realize I failed to post. It was late om a Friday and it was pretty quiet. Word of Mouth slowly getting out about this gem. They have a full bar to make whatever you want like normal restuarants but on the sipping side they have a few bourbon and scotches but a ton of Tequilas. Duh duh it's a Mexican bar and restuarant. But these aren't your local bar well selection. These are higher end sipping tequilas and plenty of them. The food has a limited selection and everything we has was great. Bqcon & cheese stuffed Jalapeño are fresh japs made to order. The elote had everything a street corn elote would have but off the Cobb and small portion to try. Daughter had grilled chicken salad. Chicken was grilled to perfection with a slight glaze that caramelized a bit. Salad was fresh and good good amount of meat and veggies. I wanted the braised carnitas but they were out so they substituted the meat for a carne asada which was tender and delish!Prices are in accordance with the selection and the times. Not too high and not cheap. Will definitely go and try a couple of more times before I do a detailed review.

The staff was so kind and answered all our questions about what they recommended. They even let us sample the hot sauce which was incredible!!! We highly recommend giving this restaurant a try. The drinks are made fresh along with the food and salsa!!!

Pretty mediocre. And it's hard not to let the atmosphere depress you with the walls and booths all painted orange/yellow. We were one of two tables in this dark and dingy looking place on a Monday night. Our server was sweet, but she couldn't make up for the mediocre food. We tried the nachos, Caesar salad, quesadillas, and stuffed jalapeños. The jalapeños were pretty good. But nothing else was. Salsa was bland. Margaritas were decent but small, and they don't have frozen.

Wonderful atmosphere. Dawnell and Darrell are so welcoming. Fabulous service and the BEST margaritas I have EVER had. The prickly pear was my favorite. The braised canitas were juicy and flavorful and the portions are very generous. Totally forgot to get a picture, but definitely give them a try!

My husband and i just tried this place for the first time and let me tell you.....the food was top notch! The food, drinks and service was amazing. We will definately be coming back and would recommend this place to anyone looking for something different that is of great quality at a reasonable price.

We were excited to go and try Maceo tonight…the new Mexican/Latin restaurant near Katy Mills Mall. Sorry to say that we were very disappointed. The service was fine, but the food truly lacked any flavor whatsoever. Odd tasting salsa(wasn’t fresh, too much garlic and no salt) and the queso, carnitas, black beans and Spanish rice were some of the blandest food we have ever tasted. With so many great Mexican and Latin restaurant choices in, and around, Katy, it’s hard to imagine how this place will survive unless they really step up their game. Who knows, maybe it was just an off night for them, but the restaurant was empty at 6pm tonight with only two other tables seated. Sure it’s a Monday, but given that it’s the week between Xmas and New Years, I would have expected to see a lot more people in there.

Just had the best experience at Maceo! Our server was amazing and extremely attentive - and the manager was great as well. Barbacoa quesadillas were so delicious and the stuffed jalapeños were amazing. Great time and we will definitely be back!
Great service but not great food. Salsa is tasteless. Ordered queso...tasteless. I got the carnitas and honestly mine are a thousand times better. No seasonings. Well it started out with great salsa but it is kinda strange to have your carnitas dinner to make it to the table before the margaritas or even the stuffed jalapeños appetizer. The server apologized for the service saying they were short 3 people but there were only 4 tables with people in the place. I am really rooting for this place. The margaritas both Cadillac and Blackberry were good. Small but good. The plating was nice but both the app and meal were just fair. I am not sure if I will give them another try or not. Maybe in a few months when they are not so new.
