I've been going to Tonys/Ray's for many years and absolutely love it. I recently went after have being away from the Katy area for about 10 years. It was just as I remembered. Except for one thing, the automated pay process. I'm all about technology but I absolutely hate this. I like to get my check and sit for a while, this automated process has the server hovering over you and I feel like I'm being rushed out the door. I don't like it one bit. That said, I'll still patronize this establishment because the food, drinks and service are fantastic.

Great Beer Now
Mexican and TexMex food is easy to find in my area of west Houston. I have my favorites, but if I want the taste of Mexico without driving far from home, a place I will frequently visit is Ray’s Mexican Restaurant on Mason Road in Katy.At Ray’s, guests will find the usual assortment of Mexican and TexMex options, most all of them accompanied by rice and refried beans. There is a good selection of appetizers and they make a good choice if your party needs something served as quickly as possible. Some of them are hearty enough to be a meal. Often, just a serving of quesadillas, beef or chicken, is enough for me and serves as my dinner, even though it’s considered an appetizer. If I want a little more food, I will go for one of the TexMex Combos, like the Acapulco Dinner or the Veracruz Dinner. One of the enchilada plates is also a good choice. And I appreciate that they even have a section of Light Meals if you’re appetite is lighter than usual. The presentation of the food is not always the best, as many of the items end up running together on your plate, but the taste is good, and that is what matters. For drinks, people love the margaritas served at Ray’s, and they are probably your best bet. The beer selection isn’t the greatest, so I recommend margaritas or a cocktail, if you want some booze. Otherwise, I find that washing it all down with a glass of iced tea is best.Ray’s is located in a strip mall, so parking is easy to find, and free. It’s a good place for Mexican and TexMex in the west suburb of Katy and more than good enough to satisfy your Mexican food fix.

First time to go during the busy Friday night crowds and VERY DISAPPOINTED! The food is consistently tasty BUT the lack of customer service was blatantly clear! Our waitress immediately brought the check without asking if we needed anything else... my husband explained we wanted to try a dessert? She appeared embarrassed and crumbled the ticket and took our sopapilla order. It took about 30 minutes and they were cold when finally delivered? We continued to try to enjoy our time there but the offers of more tea and water stopped AND they cleared our table while we continued to talk? It was apparent they only wanted to get us out so they could seat more people at our table! Avoid this restaurant, on Friday nights, if you are looking for a nice place to relax! Too many great Mexican food restaurants, in Katy, to ever have to spend money at this establishment... horrible service!
