The restaurant Te'Jun, The Texas Cajun, offers excellent decor and friendly staff that take orders and provide counter service. The food is Louisiana style and flavorful, with dishes such as Mississippi catfish, fries, mac n cheese, crawfish app, shrimp skewers, and the Te'Jun trio of fried fish, gator, and shrimp with hush puppies and fries. Portions vary: the catfish is large and fresh, while the tails are small and could use a scoop of rice. Many guests find the food good and the portions generous, though some note the tails are too small for the price.
The atmosphere is a mix of positives and negatives. The space is great with a patio out back and an outdoor playground overlooking a pond, but the interior has a big empty space, no TV, no bar, and no music playing. Some suggest adding zydeco, TVs, and a beer trough to create a fun vibe. The layout also causes bottlenecks, especially where drinks are served near the front door and counter, leading to delays. One senior lunch special at $9.99 was delayed because the computer lost the order. The senior lunch special included a small bowl of red beans & rice. The staff offered no apology.
Despite the design flaws, the staff maintain a positive attitude and smiles, and the tables are prepped for shellfish. Bible verses burned into the tables add a unique touch. Overall, the restaurant delivers fresh, flavorful food and a friendly environment, but could improve its layout and service speed.
