Cozy place with great selection of steak from Texas to Australia and Japan. Great cocktails and finish with cigars on the Patio. Awesome time.

My husband and I celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary here yesterday, it was our first visit to the Kemah Steakhouse and we do have a lot to say.
The atmosphere is warm, cozy, dim and inviting. Although I do think it was weird that there are some tables by the front entrance so the people eating at those tables are constantly interrupted by the customers entering and leaving the restaurant. Thankfully, we were seated in a separate room so this did not affect us, but had do we been seated by the front door, I would’ve been annoyed by the door.
We were promptly greeted by the host and guided to our table that had rose petals, which is a nice touch however, I immediately noticed the rose petals were fake which means I’m sure they get reused again and again. We are no stranger to fine dining on our anniversary and most fine dining restaurants use real Rose petals, I know this is nitpicking, but when you’re paying high prices, it is all about the details.
Our waitress was lovely, very attentive very informative and very quick-no bad things to say about her.
I ordered an espresso martini and my husband ordered an old-fashioned and both drinks were fantastic.
We were surprised that we were not given fresh bread at all at this establishment as again, at most fine steakhouses you are greeted with a basket of warm fresh bread and butter.
I ordered a ribeye, my husband, a filet mignon and our three sides were the vegetables, mashed potatoes and grits.
Our steaks were OK…literally just OK. Not bad, but did not blow us away by any means, in fact, I had to use a ton of salt on my ribeye.
The grits were the best part the meal they were creamy, dreamy, and decadent. Mashed potatoes were very thick you could stab them with a fork. They were literally just your typical mashed potatoes that you get at Luby‘s cafeteria.
The vegetables were giving Green Giant. Again fine-but nothing special and for a nine dollar plate of vegetables you expected to be blown away. Have you tried the brussels sprouts at saltgrass steakhouse? Those are *amazing* if you want to be blown away by a steakhouse vegetables.
Because we were not impressed by the food, we decided to skip dessert.
We did have leftovers and I was appalled by the to-go containers: literally just your normal to-go containers you would be given at an Olive Garden and a black plastic bag, similar to what they give you at a liquor shop.
Our meal was about $230 and we were walking out with a literal black plastic bag. It’s all about the details when you’re spending so much money at a fine dining restaurant.
At the capital Grille, you’re greeted with fresh rose petals, warm bread, they box up your food for you, and hand it back to you with extra bread and a brown paper bag with their branding on the bag and handles.
It is an upscale experience to go along with their upscale prices.
With all that said this place was fine, for the price you pay it is not worth it. I don’t mean to knock a local business, but I just want to make others aware of what to expect if they’re coming here to celebrate a special occasion.

What started as a disappointing evening turned into one of the best dining experiences I've had in a very long time, thanks to Kemah Steak Company.

After being turned away from a bourbon event at another local restaurant despite believing we had a reservation, my wife and I decided to salvage the evening and head to Kemah Steak Company. From the moment we walked through the door, the difference in customer service was obvious.

Owner Doug took the time to hear what had happened and immediately made us feel welcome. He genuinely cared that our evening had gotten off to such a rough start and went completely out of his way to make it special. As a bourbon enthusiast with more than 120 bottles in my collection, I was blown away when he shared a pour from his personal stash of Angel's Envy. It wasn't about the bourbon itself—it was the gesture. It was a perfect example of hospitality and taking care of your guests.

Our waitress, Victoria, was absolutely incredible. She was attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and somehow managed to make us feel like we were the most important table in the restaurant. Great service has become increasingly rare these days, and Victoria reminded us what truly exceptional service looks like.

And then there were the steaks.

Oh my God.

I have eaten steaks all over the country, and the steak I had that night instantly earned a place in my personal top three of all time. Perfectly cooked, packed with flavor, and absolutely unforgettable. Every bite reminded me why great steakhouses earn loyal customers.

What impressed me most was that nobody at Kemah Steak Company had any obligation to make up for another restaurant's mistake. Yet Doug, Victoria, and the entire team chose to go above and beyond anyway. They turned what could have been a ruined evening into a memorable one that my wife and I will talk about for years.

Great food gets people in the door. Great people keep them coming back. Kemah Steak Company delivered both. They made our night extremely special, and I will never forget it.

Thank you, Doug, Victoria, and the entire team. You gained customers for life.

One of the best steaks I’ve ever had in my 11+ years traveling the country. Cooked perfectly, great flavor, and all around great experience. Very nice atmosphere as well. Highly recommend!

The place is great. Service was great, atmosphere was great. My big knock against this place is that they a hard close at 9 pm on a Saturday night. It was our first time there for a birthday dinner and we made reservations for 8pm on a Saturday. Nowhere when booking on open table did it say that they will force you out at 9pm. We had one hour to get our meal in and a 1L bottle of wine. At 8:55 the bill was dropped on our table and we were told the bar is closed and we had 15 minutes to finish. I don't know about you but when I am spending this much per person for a dinner I would like to have time to enjoy the experience and not be rushed out. If they are closing at 9pm then they need to make their last reservation time for 7pm so you can enjoy the experience. Could be great but this is a bad business decision....

Neat atmosphere and the food was not bad. Some of the sides were genuinely excellent.

That said, I’m still not sure the steak itself was worth the price. Reservations are required, but the restaurant was not even half full when we went, which made the space feel a little oddly quiet.

Overall, good experience, but probably not one I’d rush back to at that price point.

Thank you for an unforgettable dining experience! Kemah Steak Company is a romantic, luxury steakhouse—perfect for date nights or celebrating life’s special moments. The staff were incredible, and I especially appreciated how the menu highlights the ranch each steak comes from. My steak was cooked to the most perfect medium rare I’ve ever had, and you could truly taste the quality in every bite. One standout touch is the menu glossary, which thoughtfully guides you through the different cuts so you can choose exactly what suits your taste. Every detail felt intentional and personalized. From start to finish, everything was exceptional, and I look forward to indulging at Kemah Steak Company again!

Cocktails, steaks, sides, and desserts were outstanding. Choose your steak from one of many ranchers. What a great idea! Our server, Victoria, was knowledgeable and engaging. Definitely a go to while in the Kemah area.

If you can, I would. Was expecting a large scale production for a steakhouse. We pleasantly surprised it was not. Like the limited seating, relatively quit to enjoy a meal with your date. Service was excellent, to me excellent is letting us enjoy our selections without asking me a question every 5 mins with a mouth full of food. Never had an empty glass.
While the steak is amazing, the quail and pork belly glazed appetizer, would happily do two servings of that and call it a successful meal.
