The Acadiana Cafe offers a lot of great food, including Chicken and Dumplings, Gumbo, and the Best Rubin sandwich this side of Chicago. The fries are unbelievable with a slight crunch and not dried out. The Fried Catfish and Chicken Fried Chicken are also great and hearty meals. The cabbage is amazing in a tomato sauce with okra and other yummy bits, and the okra is perfectly breaded. However, some reviews note the food can be bland and lack basic seasoning, while others suggest a pinch more seasonings would help. The price points are a little steep for the small town, with small fish for the cost. Service needs help; after the food came out, customers felt invisible and had to ask twice for butter, with no drink refills. One visit felt unwelcome when arriving close to closing time. On the positive side, the food is served very hot, and the new building has a great rustic, historic vibe. Thursday Karaoke and Wednesday Brain Brews Trivia are pluses. Overall, a cozy spot with good food that could use some polish on service and pricing.
