“Everytime I am visiting in Lamesa, Texas I enjoy stopping by and ordering a dozen Habanero pork tomales. Nice & hot & ready to eat. You can order them mild, as well as frozen to save for another day to enjoy them. Great service, no need to get out of your car.”

“The fried seafood platter is terrific. Everything on it always cooked perfectly. I really like the fried oysters that are never overcooked (like happens all the time in other restaurants). I plan trips to eat at Texas Cajun in Lamesa. Worth planning your trip to eat there and the food & service is just as good at 3 in the afternoon as it is at the normal hours. My wife gives the grilled seafood platter 5 stars.”

The Lost Texan Cafe

I ordered the chicken fried steak plate, and let me tell you — this place is doing it right.

Five large, juicy, perfectly seasoned steak fingers with a thin, crispy crust that actually sticks to the meat instead of crumbling off. Hands down some of the best steak fingers I’ve ever had. They came out fast — about 10 minutes — and when I say hot, I mean so hot they melted the to-go box. That’s a quality signal if there ever was one.

The gravy deserves its own spotlight. Perfect consistency, rich flavor, and absolutely magical. If they ever start serving biscuits with this in the morning, they could easily dominate breakfast in Lamesa. It was also perfect for dipping the fries.

Speaking of fries — extra crispy, think Raising Cane’s or Braum’s level. Pro tip if you’re doing pickup: crack the box open right away to let the steam escape so they stay crisp on the drive home.

They also let me swap the salad for mac and cheese, which I appreciated. The flavor was good, though the noodles were softer than I personally prefer. Still solid, and I’m looking forward to trying other sides until I land on my perfect combo.

Overall, this was a fantastic meal — hot, fast, well-seasoned, and clearly made with care. I’ll absolutely be back to work my way through the menu. If you haven’t tried The Lost Texan Cafe yet, you’re missing out.

“Hands Down the best food in Lamesa TX, All other restaurants get old when you eat out as much as I do but not sissy’s, always something different to eat as well as daily specials to choose from, prices are excellent compared to everyone else and the food portions actually fill you up. Every staff member is always amazing and management is always so friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting good food and a classic diner experience.”

“In MY OPINION this is the best place for Mexican Food in Lamesa Tx. Staff is friendly and can speak English and Spanish even though I speak both fluently. Although I can honestly say I'm NOT a fan of the extra dollar they charge when you use a card such as a debit or credit card so bring cash and save that extra dollar. It adds up as many times as I eat there.”
